Royal Poinciana Invitational
The Royal Poinciana Invitational was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour in 1961 and 1962. It was played at Palm Beach Golf Club in Palm Beach, Florida, a Dick Wilson and Joe Lee-designed Par-3 course. The tournament was one of the first in professional golf featuring a ''Battle of the Sexes'' concept, with a Par 3 course that neutralised power and emphasised precision golf. In 1961, the field consisted of 24 men and women, both amateurs and professionals. The tournament was 54 holes and won by Louise Suggs by one stroke over local pro Dub Pagan. Sam Snead was third, two shots behind. In 1962, the ''Battle of the Sexes'' concept was changed to 14 LPGA professionals versus one man, PGA of America superstar Sam Snead (the modern touring professional division would not happen until 1968). Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986 and was initially called the ''Satellite Tour''. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour. Up to 1993 the Challenge Tour rankings were based on each player's best several results, but since 1994 it has been a straightforward money list, with all results counting. Raymond Floyd
Raymond Loran Floyd (born September 4, 1942) is an American retired golfer who has won numerous tournaments on both the PGA Tour and Senior PGA Tour, including four majors and four senior majors. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1989. Early years Floyd was born on September 4, 1942, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and was raised in Fayetteville. Floyd's father L.B. had a 21-year career in the U.S. Army, much of it at Fort Bragg as the golf pro at its enlisted-men's course. He also owned a nearby driving range where Raymond and younger sister Marlene, a future LPGA Tour pro, honed their games. Ladies European Tour
The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors. The Legends Tour is the current branding of the European Senior Tour, a professional tour for male golfers aged 50 and over, run by the PGA European Tour. The tour was branded as the Staysure Tour for the 2018 and 2019 seasons after UK-based insurance company Staysure became the first-ever title sponsors of the senior tour in December 2017. Jordan Mixed Open
The Jordan Mixed Open presented by Ayla is a professional golf tournament. The event included players from the Challenge Tour, the European Senior Tour and the Ladies European Tour. The event was first held in April 2019 at Ayla Golf Club, Aqaba, Jordan. In 2019 there were 40 players from each of the Challenge Tour, the European Senior Tour and the Ladies European Tour together with three high-level amateur golfers. The tournament was over 54 holes with a cut after 36 holes after which the top 60 players and ties played the final round. The organization is headquartered at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, and is best known for running the LPGA Tour, a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female professional golfers from around the world.
