Royal Léopold Club
Royal Léopold Club, also known as Léopold is a Belgian sports club based in Uccle, Brussels. The club is most well known for its field hockey section with both the first men's and women's teams playing in the Belgian Hockey League. They are the most successful Belgian field hockey club having won 28 league titles. Their biggest European success was in 1975 when they reached the final of the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup. In 2021 they won their first Euro Hockey League medal and became the third Belgian club to do so when they won the bronze medal match against Uhlenhorst Mülheim. The club was founded in 1893 and the field hockey section in 1895. Men's Belgian Hockey League
The Men's Belgian Hockey League is a field hockey league organised by the Royal Belgian Hockey Association. The league was established in 1919 as the Division 1. Between the 2006–07 and the 2015–16 seasons it was known as the Honor Division. Since 2016–17 it has been sponsored by Audi and as it also known as the Audi Hockey League. Sixteen different clubs have won the league with a 28 times record for Léopold. The current champion is Léopold, having won the 2018–19 by defeating Beerschot in the championship final. Format The season usually starts in September and ends around the end of April or the beginning of May. From the 2021–22 season onwards the league is played by twelve teams who play each other twice and who compete for four spots in the championship play-offs. Agustina Albertarrio (born 1 January 1993) is an Argentine field hockey player. She plays with the Argentina national field hockey team, winning silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Delfina Merino (born 15 October 1989) is an Argentine field hockey player. Maxime Georges Alexandre Plennevaux (born 14 June 1993) is a Belgian field hockey player who plays as a forward for Orée. Club career Plennevaux started playing hockey at Waterloo Ducks who he left for Royal Léopold when he was 17 years old. He left Léopold in 2017 for Real Club de Polo in the Spanish División de Honor. Tom Alain Boon (born 25 January 1990) is a Belgian professional field hockey player who plays as a forward for Léopold and the Belgium national team. He won a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics. Club career He started at Royal White Star HC, and after also having played for Bloemendaal, he played four years for the Belgian team Racing Club de Bruxelles. The Women's Belgian Hockey League is the top women's league competition for field hockey clubs in Belgium. The league is played since the 1921–22 season. Gantoise are the most recent champions having won their fifth title in the 2022–23 season. Format The season usually starts in September and ends around the end of April or the beginning of May.
