Royal Institute Dictionary
The ''Royal Institute Dictionary'' (RID; th, พจนานุกรม ฉบับราชบัณฑิตยสถาน, ) is the official and prescriptive dictionary of Thai language, published by the Royal Society of Thailand. The Royal Society of Thailand has published four fully revised editions of the dictionary, and many intermittent reprintings with minor revisions. Each of the major revisions is associated with a significant year in Thai history, although in the case of the 1999 and 2011 editions, the actual publication date is a later year. Status The dictionary is the only prescriptive and official dictionary of Thai words. It has also frequently been used by the courts in interpreting the general meanings of the words in dispute, although the RIT has issued a statement that the dictionary is not intended to produce legal effect concerning cases. Royal Thai Government Gazette
The ''Royal Thai Government Gazette'' (, ), frequently abbreviated to ''Government Gazette'' (GG) or ''Royal Gazette'' (RG), is the public journal and newspaper of record of Thailand. Laws passed by the government generally come into force after publication in the GG. The Royal Thai Government Gazette was the first Thai-language newspaper to appear in the kingdom and is also one of the earliest newspapers in Asia that is still in publication. The Cabinet Secretariat, a department in the Office of the Prime Minister, is charged with printing the GG. History The GG was first issued on 15 March 1858 by King Rama IV to inform government officials and the general public of news about the country. Yingluck Cabinet
The Yingluck Cabinet describes the cabinet selections of Thailand's Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who served as Prime Minister from 2011 to 2014. Shinawatra was appointed effective 5 August 2011, and she handed in her cabinet list for endorsement on 9 August 2011. Yingluck and her cabinet were sworn in at Siriraj Hospital where King Bhumibol Adulyadej resided, on 10 August 2011. She would go on to reorganize the cabinet multiple times. The Royal Society ( th, ราชบัณฑิตยสภา, , ) is the national academy of Thailand in charge of academic works of the government. The secretariat of the society is the Office of the Royal Society ( th, สำนักงานราชบัณฑิตยสภา, ), formerly known as the Royal Institute ( th, ราชบัณฑิตยสถาน, ). The office is an independent agency under the prime minister's supervision. The Royal Society was established on 19 April 1926 and was dissolved on 31 March 1934. The dissolved society was split into the Royal Institute and the Fine Arts Department. On 14 February 2015, the Royal Institute was reorganised. Tanin Kraivixien
Thanin Kraivichien (first name also spelled ''Tanin'', last name ''Kraivixien'' or ''Kraivichian''; th, ธานินทร์ กรัยวิเชียร, , ; born 5 April 1927) is a Thai former judge, politician and law professor. He was the prime minister of Thailand between 1976 and 1977. Subsequently, he was a member of the Privy Council until 2016 when he was appointed the position of President, replacing Prem Tinsulanonda. Family and education Thanin is a son of Hae and Pa-ob Kraivichien. He was born in Bangkok. His father was a Chinese-born merchant and owner of one of the biggest pawnshops in Bangkok. Phra Phutthayotfa Chulalok Maharaj (, 20 March 1737 – 7 September 1809), personal name Thongduang (), also known as Rama I, was the founder of the Rattanakosin Kingdom and the first monarch of the reigning Chakri dynasty of Siam (now Thailand). His full title in Thai is ''Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paramoruracha Mahachakkriborommanat Phra Phutthayotfa Chulalok'' (). He ascended the throne in 1782, following the deposition of King Taksin of Thonburi. He was also celebrated as the founder of Rattanakosin (now Bangkok) as the new capital of the reunited kingdom.
