Royal Hotel, Maryborough
Royal Hotel is a heritage-listed hotel on the corner of Kent Street and Bazaar Street, Maryborough, Fraser Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Eaton & Bates and built from 1892 to 1930s. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History The Royal Hotel in Maryborough is a substantial rendered brick building, constructed in 1902 to designs of Messrs Eaton and Bates, architects of Rockhampton. The present hotel was built for Richard Hyne, a local pioneer who developed many local manufacturing and community initiatives. The original township of Maryborough was situated, not in its current place, but on the north of the Mary River, after wharves were established in 1847–1848, to provide transport for wool from sheep stations on the Burnett River. The Radisson Collection Royal Hotel, Copenhagen is a historic hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark. History The hotel was designed by Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen for the airline Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS). It was opened on July 1, 1960 by King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid as the Royal Hotel. It was also known as the SAS Royal Hotel. The hotel was renamed the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in 1994, when SAS signed a joint marketing agreement with Radisson Hotels. When SAS and Radisson ceased the marketing agreement in February 2009, the hotel remained with Radisson and was renamed the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel. Royal Hotel (Honey Harbour) was a large hotel that operated on Royal Island, Ontario located across the channel from Honey Harbour, Ontario and the Delawana Inn. History Opened in 1903 by the Grisé brothers (Frederick), the grand white siding three storey hotel sat along the channel across from Honey Harbour of the island serviced by Steamboats like SS Midland City that were used in the District Municipality of Muskoka, Muskoka area. The hotel had a Veranda on the first and second floor, serviced by a dock along the channel side of the island. It was closed in the 1970s and later demolished. Frederick Grisé also operated the Victoria House Hotel across from the Royal since the 1920s and later renamed Delawana Inn.
