The Royal Academy of Music (Danish: ''Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium'') in Aarhus and Aalborg, Denmark, is a conservatoire and state institution under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of Culture, charged with responsibility for the further education courses in music, and for otherwise contributing to the promotion of musical culture in Denmark. The school is under the patronage of Crown Prince Frederik. The headquarters of the Royal Academy of Music is situated in Aarhus, in a building designed by architectural firm C. F. Møller Architects, completed in 2007. It was built as an extension of Musikhuset Aarhus, the Aarhus Concert Hall. The new headquarters for the Royal Academy of Music, North Denmark in Aalborg was completed in 2014 and is called Musikkens Hus. ''Musikhuset Aarhus'' (Aarhus Concert Hall) is a large concert hall complex in Aarhus, Denmark. Located in the city centre, Musikhuset is Aarhus' main venue for music and with seating for more than 3,600 people in total, it is the largest concert hall in Scandinavia. Musikhuset Aarhus was designed by Kjær & Richter and built in 1979-1982, commissioned by Aarhus Municipality. The surroundings are designed by landscape architect Sven Hansen. Musikkens Hus (House of Music) is a venue in Aalborg, Denmark. It is located at Musikkens Plads (Music Square) by the Limfjord in the new cultural center area of the city. Opened in March 2014, the building contains a concert hall and practice rooms for the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and The Royal Academy of Music. Erling Møldrup
Erling Møldrup (1943 - 2016) was a Danish classical guitarist best known for championing Danish guitar music from all periods. Born in Aarhus, Møldrup grew up as an only child in Nørregade, in the inner city, in a music loving workers family. He started apprenticeship as a mason, like his father, but soon fell in love with the guitar. At the age of 15 he started to take classes at the Aarhus Folk Music School where he heard classical guitar music for the first time and his talent was spotted by the teachers. Later on, at the Danish Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Møldrup received his initial training under Jytte Gorki Schmidt, obtaining his academy diploma in 1972.
