Roy Waldron
Roy J. Waldron (April 3, 1894 - May 15, 1963) was a batboy for the History of the St. Louis Browns, St. Louis Browns before he turned to Horse trainer, training Thoroughbred racehorses. He is best known for winning the 1940 Kentucky Derby with Gallahadion, a colt he race conditioned for Ethel V. Mars of Mars, Incorporated, chocolate bar fame. Racing career and World War I service Roy Waldron had a short career as a jockey but his ongoing employment in horse racing was interrupted by service in World War I with the United States Army, Fifth Company, 157th Depot Brigade (United States), 157th Depot Brigade. On his passing in 1963, Sgt. Waldron was interred in the Long Island National Cemetery. When the War ended, Roy Waldron returned to racing as part of the training operations with Xalapa Farm in Paris, Kentucky under manager James McClelland. A horse trainer is a person who tends to horses and teaches them different disciplines. Some of the responsibilities trainers have are caring for the animals' physical needs, as well as teaching them submissive behaviors and/or coaching them for events, which may include contests and other riding purposes. Endurance Handicap
The Endurance Gold Cup Stakes was an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually during the latter part of November at Bowie Race Track in Bowie, Maryland. Open to two-year-old horses, it was contested on dirt over a distance of a mile and a sixteenth (8.5 furlongs). The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Batboy
In baseball, a batboy or batgirl is an individual who carries baseball bats to the players on a baseball team. Duties of a batboy may also include handling and preparing players’ equipment and bringing baseballs to the umpire during the game. During games, a batboy remains in or near a team's dugout and the area around home plate. A batboy should not be confused with ball boys, who are stationed down the foul lines to retrieve foul balls.
