Roy Godfrey
Roy Andrew Michael Godfrey (born 11 August 1989) is a South African rugby union player, currently playing in England with Championship side Jersey Reds. His regular position is loosehead prop. Career Youth and Varsity Rugby After playing high school rugby for Selborne College in his hometown of East London, Godfrey moved to Durban to join the Academy, representing the side during the 2010 Under-21 Provincial Championship competition. He returned to the Eastern Cape in 2012 and joined up with the Port Elizabeth-based Varsity Cup side, the . The Madibaz finished fifth in 2012 Varsity Cup, with Godfrey playing in all seven their matches during the season, scoring two tries. He also played for them in 2013 and 2014. RFU Championship
The RFU Championship is an English rugby union competition comprising twelve clubs. It is the second level of men’s English rugby and is played by both professional and semi-professional players. The competition has existed since 1987, when English clubs were first organised into leagues. Organisation and format The Championship is governed by the Rugby Football Union (RFU). The current competition format is a double round-robin tournament, where teams play each other home and away. The 2021-22 season had no playoff phase, and no team was promoted to the Premiership as no team met the minimum standards criteria. Regional 1 South East (up until 2022-23 known as London & South East Premier and up until 2016-17 known as National League 3 London & South East) is a level five league in the English rugby union system. It is one of six leagues at this level. When this division began in 1987 it was known as London Division 1. The format of the league was changed at the beginning of the 2009–10 season following re-organisation by the Rugby Football Union while the name change from National League 3 to Premier was introduced for the 2017–18 season to make it more obvious that it is a regional league. Sona Taumalolo (born 13 November 1981) is a former professional rugby union player. He played at prop for in New Zealand's domestic Mitre 10 Cup competition; the in Super Rugby; several French clubs; and the Tonga national team. He retired at the end of the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup season. Rugby Pro D2, also known as Pro D2 is the second tier of rugby union club competition division in France. It is operated by Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR) which also runs the division directly above, the first division Top 14. Rugby Pro D2 was introduced in 2000. It is the world's best supported second tier rugby union league. Season structure There is relegation and promotion between both the Top 14 and Fédérale 1, the third-level competition. The top club at the end of the season is automatically promoted to the Top 14; through the 2016–17 season, the 2nd through 5th place teams play each other for the second promotion place. The 2014 Currie Cup First Division was contested between 29 August and 17 October 2014. The tournament (also known as the Absa Currie Cup First Division for sponsorship reasons) was the second tier of South Africa's premier domestic rugby union competition, featuring teams representing either entire provinces or substantial regions within provinces.
