Roy Blair
Roy Alexander James Blair (13 June 1921 – 31 May 2002) was a New Zealand roller skater, speed skater, cricketer and golfer. He was born and died in Dunedin. He worked as a teacher, and in the Second World war served with the Air Force. Skating Blair was New Zealand's best roller skater between 1937 and 1941, winning 9 national titles on the 440 yards, 880 yards, and mile races. He competed in the 1938 Empire Games. Wayne Blair (cricketer)
Wayne Leslie Blair (11 May 1948 – 11 January 2019) was a New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Otago from 1967 to 1991. Early life Blair made his first-class debut for Otago in 1967–68 as an opening batsman. He played all that season and all the next, reaching 50 only once, when he scored 83 in the last match of the 1968–69 season. He moved down the order in 1969–70, keeping wicket in one match and winning selection in a New Zealand Under-23 team against the touring Australians, when he top-scored in the second innings with 40. He returned to the opening position and produced a number of useful but not large scores up to the end of the 1973–74 season. After a time out of first-class cricket he returned to the Otago team in 1977–78 and maintained his place. This is a list of cricketers who have played first-class, List A or Twenty20 cricket for the Otago cricket team. Otago played its first representative match in January 1864 against Southland, before playing the first match in New Zealand which is considered to be first-class later in the same month, a fixture against Canterbury. Otago Cricket Team
The Otago cricket team, nicknamed the Volts since the 1997–98 season, are a New Zealand first-class cricket team which first played representative cricket in 1864. The team represents the Otago, Southland and North Otago regions of New Zealand's South Island. Their main governing board is the Otago Cricket Association which is one of six major associations that make up New Zealand Cricket. The team plays most of its home games at the University Oval in Dunedin, but occasionally plays games at the Events Centre in Queenstown, Queen's Park Ground in Invercargill and Molyneux Park in Alexandra. The team plays first-class, List A and Twenty20 matches against other New Zealand provincial sides, although in the past has also played against touring sides.
