Dennis Rowland is a jazz vocalist born and raised in Detroit. Career Having grown up in a household of jazz enthusiasts, Rowland developed an appreciation for jazz music at an early age. At the age of five or six Rowland heard the vocals of Joe Williams of the Count Basie Orchestra, which has influenced his approach to singing ever since. In the early 1970s, Rowland worked as a singer and actor in Detroit. In 1977 Count Basie hired him to sing on tour, filling the same role his idols Joe Williams and Jimmy Rushing had occupied. For Rowland, it was a dream come true, and he toured with Basie for the next seven years. Cyril Rowland
Cyril Arthur Rowland (9 June 1905 – 30 June 1971) was a Welsh cricketer. Rowland was a right-handed batsman who occasionally fielded as a wicket-keeper. He was born in Llandrillo-yn-Rhos, Denbighshire. Rowland made his first-class debut for Wales against Scotland in 1924. He made 13 further first-class appearances for Wales, the last of which came against the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1930. In his 14 first-class matches, he scored 330 runs at an average of 16.50, with a high score of 52 not out. This score, one of two first-class fifties he made, came against the touring West Indians in 1928. Having played Minor counties cricket for the Lancashire Second XI in 1926 and 1929, he later joined Denbighshire who he made his debut for in the 1934 Minor Counties Championship against Cheshire. Craig Rowland (born 30 June 1971) is a squash coach and former professional squash player from Australia. As a player, he reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 7 in 1996. He won a gold medal in the mixed doubles at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, partnering Michelle Martin. Christopher Charles Rowland (born 21 May 1947) is an English Anglican priest and theologian. He was Dean Ireland's Professor of the Exegesis of Holy Scripture at the University of Oxford from 1991 to 2014. Life Rowland was born on 21 May 1947 in Doncaster, then in the West Riding of Yorkshire, and was educated at Doncaster Grammar School. He then studied at Christ's College, Cambridge, and for ordination in the Church of England at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. He was ordained deacon in 1975 and priest in 1976, serving as curate at two parishes in the Newcastle upon Tyne area (Benwell 1975–1978, Gosforth 1978–1979). Between 1974 and 1979, he lectured in religious studies at Newcastle University, returning to Cambridge as a Fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge, in 1979. Chris Rowland (born December 19, 1997) is an American football wide receiver for the Philadelphia Stars of the United States Football League (USFL). He played college football for the Tennessee State Tigers. After college, he signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Charles Hedding Rowland
Charles Hedding Rowland (December 20, 1860 – November 24, 1921) was a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Biography Rowland was born in Hancock, Maryland. He moved to Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, in 1866 and to Houtzdale, Pennsylvania, in 1874. He was president of the Moshannon Coal Mining Company and of the Pittsburgh & Susquehanna Railroad Company. He was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth and Sixty-fifth Congresses from Pennsylvania's twenty-first district. He declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1918. Rowland died in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, aged 60, and was interred in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
