Catherine Rowett
Catherine Joanna Rowett (born 29 December 1956, previously publishing as Catherine Osborne from 1979 to 2011) is a British former Member of the European Parliament representing the Green Party of England and Wales, and academic. She is Professor of Philosophy at the University of East Anglia. She is known in particular for her work on Ancient Greek philosophy, Greek Philosophy, especially the Pre-Socratic philosophy, Pre-Socratic philosophers. She was a Green Party of England and Wales, Green Party Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the East of England (European Parliament constituency), East of England from 2019 until 31 January 2020, when the United Kingdom left the European Union. Gary Rowett
Gary Rowett (born 6 March 1974) is an English professional football manager and former player, who is currently manager of Championship club Millwall. As a player, he was a defender, and played in the Premier League for Everton, Derby County, Leicester City and Charlton Athletic. He also played in the Football League for Cambridge United, Blackpool, Birmingham City and Burton Albion. His professional career ended in 2004, through a knee injury. In May 2009, he was appointed assistant manager to Paul Peschisolido at Burton, and took over as manager in 2012. Henry Rowett
Henry Rowett (dates unknown) was an English amateur cricketer who played for Surrey teams during the 1760s. He was chiefly noted for his patronage of Caterham Cricket Club which was prominent between 1767 and 1770. Nothing is known of Rowett apart from his involvement in cricket matches. Rowett is first mentioned in August 1767 in connection with a match between his Surrey team and Sir Horace Mann's XI.G B Buckley, ''Fresh Light on 18th Century Cricket'', Cotterell, 1935 In the Caterham v Bourne match at Caterham Common on 10 June 1768, Rowett showed himself to be a capable batsman by scoring 30 in Caterham's total of 150, Caterham winning the match by 14 runs. This match has left one of the earliest known scorecards, printed in the 11 June 1768 edition of the ''Kentish Weekly Post''. Despite the match title, it was effectively Surrey v Kent. John Quiller Rowett (1876 – 1 October 1924) was a British businessman, philanthropist, and co-founder of the Rowett Research Institute. Richard Rowett
Richard Rowett (November 17, 1830 – July 13, 1887) was a leading political figure of nineteenth-century Illinois, a famous animal breeder and an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was born in East Looe, Cornwall in 1830, the son of William Rowett, a cooper and Jenny nee Williams. Richard was the eighth child in a family of ten (five boys and five girls) and was christened in the Anglican parish of Saint Martin, Looe, on March 24, 1831. In the early 1850's two of the Rowett brothers and a sister emigrated to Australia and in 1851 Richard decided to make a new life in the United States following in the footsteps of his brother Joseph. He arrived in New York in July of that year, and first settled in Johnson County, Indiana but by 1854 he had moved to Carlinville, Illinois. Rowett Research Institute
The Rowett Institute is a research centre for studies into Food science, food and nutrition, located in Aberdeen, Scotland. History The institute was founded in 1913 when the University of Aberdeen and the Scottish Agricultural College, North of Scotland College of Agriculture agreed that an "Institute for Research into Animal Nutrition" should be established in Scotland. The first director was John Boyd Orr, later to become Lord Boyd Orr, who moved from Glasgow to "the wilds of Aberdeenshire" in 1914. Orr drew up some plans for a nutrition research institute. Orr also donated £5000 for the building of a granite laboratory building at Craibstone, not far from the Bucksburn site of the Rowett. At the breakout of the Great War, Orr left the institute, but returned in 1919 with a staff of four to begin work in the new laboratory.
