Rowena Cory Daniells
Rowena Cory Daniells (born 1958), is an Australian children's writer who also publishes science fiction and fantasy novels and novellas. Biography Rowena Lindquist, writes under a number of variations of her name but most as Rowena Cory Daniells. She is from Brisbane where she lives with her husband and children. She has written 26 children's books as well as a number of novels and other works. Daniells has been translated into French, German, Italian and Korean. Daniells co-founded Vision Writers with Marianne de Pierres in 1996 as well as being part of the committees for two of Australia's genre awards and being part of the Queensland Writers Centre, the Brisbane Writers Festival and Fantastic Queensland. Marianne De Pierres
Marianne de Pierres (born 1961) is an Australian science fiction author. Born in Western Australia, she finished her undergraduate studies at Curtin University in Perth and later studied a Postgraduate Certificate of Arts in Writing, Editing and Publishing at the University of Queensland. In 2019, she completed her PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Queensland. Throughout her writing career she has been actively involved in promoting Speculative Fiction in Australia and is the co-founder of the Vision Writers Group with Rowena Cory Daniells, and ROR – wRiters on the Rise, a critiquing group for professional writers. She was also involved in the early planning stage of Clarion South. Publications The greater body of her work has seen publication in the UK and Australia. David Gemmell
David Andrew Gemmell (; 1 August 1948 – 28 July 2006) was a British author of heroic fantasy, best known for his debut novel, ''Legend (Gemmell novel), Legend''. A former journalist and newspaper editor, Gemmell had his first work of fiction published in 1984. He went on to write over thirty novels. Gemmell's works display violence, yet also explore themes of honour, loyalty and redemption. There is always a strong heroic theme but nearly always the heroes are flawed in some way. With over one million copies sold, his work continues to sell worldwide. The David Gemmell Awards for Fantasy were awarded from 2009 to 2018, with a stated goal to "restore fantasy to its proper place in the literary pantheon".
