Dawn Rowan
Dawn Rowan (born 15 February 1946, in Adelaide, South Australia) is a therapist who specialises in counselling adult survivors of childhood ritual, satanic, emotional, sexual and physical abuse. She has been the subject of one of the longest legal battles with the Federal Government of Australia in modern times. Legal case In 1987 the Government of South Australia ceased funding the Christies Beach Women's Shelter, where Rowan was manager, due, it said, to 'unsubstantiated allegations' of misappropriation of funds, sexual misconduct, intimidation, physical harassment and unprofessional conduct - which were released in a report by the Health Minister, Dr John Cornwall, to the South Australian Parliament under parliamentary privilege. Rowan sued the Federal and South Australian governments and also two television networks. She also defended herself in a five-month court case in the Supreme Court of South Australia in 2001 - and won.

Joseph Rowan (September 8, 1870 – August 3, 1930) was an American lawyer, banker, and politician who served one term as a United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative from New York (state), New York from 1919 to 1921. Biography Joseph Charles Rowan was born in New York City on September 8, 1870. He attended the public schools and graduated from Columbia Law School in 1891. He was Admission to the bar in the United States, admitted to the bar in 1892 and practiced in New York City. He was also involved in banking and other businesses, including serving as a trustee of the West Side Savings Bank. In 1905, Rowan married Cora Cook, the daughter of Dr. Stephen Cook, the chief surgeon of the New York City Police Department. Jonathan Rowan
Jonathan Robert Rowan (born 29 November 1981) is an English former professional footballer who played as a forward from 2000 to 2010. He started his professional career with Grimsby Town in the Football League, playing three years inside the second tier of English football and a further year in the third, the latter years of his Grimsby career were hit by a number of injuries which led to his departure in 2004. He briefly moved to Kidderminster Harriers before going on to join Kettering Town and Gainsborough Trinity. In 2006, he signed for Boston Town where his goal scoring rate earned him a move across town to Boston United. Rowan spent two seasons with United before returning to Boston Town in 2009. He retired from playing competitive football at the end of the 2009–10 season to concentrate on coaching within the sport. Jenny Rowan
Jennifer Daphne Rowan (formerly Simpson; born October 1949) is a New Zealand former politician. She served as mayor of Kapiti Coast from 2007 to 2013, and was the first openly lesbian mayor in the country. Career Rowan was mayor of Inglewood District from 1986 until the 1989 local government reforms. She was then elected to the Taranaki Regional Council and served as deputy chair until 1991. She was a commissioner of the Environment Court of New Zealand from 1991 to 2007, and served as deputy chair of the Paekākāriki Community Board from 2004 to 2006. Rowan was elected mayor of Kapiti Coast in 2007, defeating six opponents including former mayor Iride McCloy. The In Amenas hostage crisis began on 16 January 2013, when al-Qaeda-linked terrorists affiliated with a brigade led by Mokhtar Belmokhtar took expat hostages at the Tigantourine gas facility near In Amenas, Algeria. One of Belmokhtar's senior lieutenants, Abdul al Nigeri, led the attack and was among the terrorists killed. After four days, the Algerian special forces raided the site, in an effort to free the hostages. At least 39 foreign hostages were killed along with an Algerian security guard, although the true figure is not known, as were 29 terrorists. A total of 685 Algerian workers and 107 foreigners were freed. Three terrorists were captured. It was one of many attacks in the Maghreb carried out by Islamist groups since 2002.
