''Routine Flight'' is a 1955 Canadian short documentary film produced by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) as part of the '' On The Spot'' series made specifically for television. The documentary, directed by Gordon Burwash, involved an account of a visit to a Trans-Canada Air Lines (TCA) maintenance centre while it is involved in transitioning to a new type of airliner. Grant McLean (film Producer)
Grant McLean, CM (April 7, 1921 – December 19, 2002) was a Canadian film director and producer. For most of his professional career he worked with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), serving as its acting Commissioner for a period during the 1960s. McLean was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. His father Allan Grant McLean was a grain commissioner and Liberal Party politician, and his uncle Ross McLean also served as chairman of the NFB. McLean studied at the University of Toronto, before joining the NFB in 1941 as a cameraman. One of the notable productions he worked on during World War II was the documentary ''Target Berlin'' for the ''Canada Carries On'' series, which showed the building of the first Lancaster bomber to be made in Canada, with McLean later flying in the plane to capture footage of a bombing raid over Berlin in Germany. Bernard Devlin (director)
Bernard Devlin (1923–1983) was a Canadian film director, producer and writer who played an important role in the development of French-language film production at the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). Biography Devlin was born and raised in Quebec City. After attending Loyola College, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and saw action in the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and North Africa. After the war, he moved to Ottawa and joined the NFB. He was one of the few French-Canadians there; he joined Vincent Paquette and Jean Palardy and, after the war, the NFB hired Roger Blais and Raymond Garceau, among others. This group made French films, but it also continued to make English films, and dub them for Quebec. In 1951, the NFB created a studio for the creation of French-language films.
