The highway runs from Massachusetts Route 2A, Route 2A in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, Lunenburg in northeastern Worcester County, Massachusetts, Worcester County east to Massachusetts Route 2, Route 2 in Lexington, Massachusetts, Lexington. Route 225 serves the western Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Middlesex County towns of Shirley, Massachusetts, Shirley, Groton, Massachusetts, Groton, Westford, Massachusetts, Westford, and Carlisle, Massachusetts, Carlisle. The highway also passes through Bedford, Massachusetts, Bedford along its concurrency (road), concurrency with Massachusetts Route 4, Route 4, which terminates at the same junction with Route 2. Route description Route 225 begins at an intersection with Route 2A (Massachusetts Avenue) on the east side of the town of Lunenburg in Worcester County.
