Georgios Roufos
Georgios Roufos (Greek: Γεώργιος Ρούφος, 1841–1891) was a Greek politician and Mayor of Patras for three terms, 1870–1874, 1874–1875 and 1887–1891. He was the 11th mayor of Patras. He was the son of Benizelos Roufos, a Prime Minister of Greece and Mayor of Patras, he is descended from the Rouphos-Kanakaris families with many generations of politicians and descended from southern Italy. He studied law in Athens and northwest to Paris. He married Roxani Mavromichali (Ρωξάνη Μαυρομιχάλη) and raised a son Ioannis Roufos. In 1864, he was attorney at the national assembly. During his mayoral run, he constructed and opened the Apollo Theatre, opened a public hospital, began the construction of wave braker at the Port of Patras, localized the opening of Georgiou I Square and ran the gaslight factory 1 km south-southwest of downtown. Ioannis Roufos ( el, Ιωάννης Ρούφος, 1870-1908) was a Greek politician. He was the son of Georgios Rouphos, a politician and the 11th Mayor of Patras and a grandson of Benizelos Roufos, a Prime Minister of Greece and Mayor of Patras, he is descended from the Rouphos- Kanakaris families with many generations of politicians and descended from southern Italy. Angelos Roufos ( el, Άγγελος Ρούφος, born c. 1852) was a Greek politician from Achaea. He was born in about 1852 in Patras to Benizelos Roufos, the scion of a well-established local political family. He was elected three times to the Greek Parliament. Athanasios Kanakaris-Roufos
Athanasios Kanakaris-Roufos (Greek: Αθανάσιος Κανακάρης-Ρούφος, 1830–1902) was a Greek politician from Achaea. He was mayor of the city of Patras from 1879 to 1883. He was the son of Benizelos Roufos and brother of Georgios Roufos. Together with his brother, he helped with the reformation of Patras. During his time as mayor he ran a gaslight company in Krya Itea, planted olives southwest of downtown, opened roads, constructed Omonoia Square, ran public schools, the Markato market and constructed the race track. He died in 1902. He raised two sons Loukas Kanakaris-Roufos and Vasileios Roufos. Benizelos Roufos (; 1795–1868) was a Greek politician and Prime Minister of Greece. Biography Early life Roufos was born in Patras in 1795, a scion of the wealthy Roufos-Kanakaris family. He was the son of Athanasios Kanakaris who fought during the Greek War of Independence. Career During the government of Ioannis Kapodistrias (1828–1830), Roufos became governor of Elis. Later he would also serve as Foreign Minister. In 1855, Roufos was elected Mayor of Patras, a post he held for three years.
