Rougon High School
Rougon High School was a school located at 13258 Louisiana Highway 416 in the town of Rougon, Louisiana. The school's mascot was the Devils. The school was built in 1940 on land donated by the Rougon family. It was originally called Rougon Graded School, and was partly formed from the students of the old Bueche School located in Jarreau, Louisiana. Jarreau (pronounced Jah Row) is an unincorporated community in the 7th Ward of Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, United States. Jarreau is located approximately 30 miles northwest of Baton Rouge, and is a part of the Baton Rouge metropolitan area. The community is located on the banks of False River. Pointe Coupee Parish ( or ; french: Paroisse de la Pointe-Coupée) is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2010 census, the population was 22,802; in 2020, its population was 20,758. The parish seat is New Roads. Pointe Coupee Parish is part of the Baton Rouge, Louisiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2010, the center of population of Louisiana was located in Pointe Coupee Parish, in the city of New Roads. Pointe Coupee Central High School
Pointe Coupee Central High School was a public high school located in the Labarre area of unincorporated Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, United States, on Louisiana Highway 1. History Pointe Coupee Central opened in the 1991–92 school year. It was intended to be the only public high school in Pointe Coupee Parish, with all high school students to attend this school. Due to geographical, and political reasons, Livonia High School was not merged. Students who had previously attended Upper Pointe Coupee High School, Rosenwald High School, and Rougon High School were sent to this new combined high school starting in 1991. In 2008 the school left the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board and became a charter school operated by Advance Baton Rouge. The school was later under the direct operation of the state Recovery School District. The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) is the agency that regulates and promotes the interscholastic athletic competitions of all high schools in the state of Louisiana. Organization LHSAA was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in October 1920. The LHSAA's main office was in Hammond from 1953 until 1972, when it returned to Baton Rouge. The LHSAA is governed by an Executive Director and an executive committee, with representatives from each of the association's class divisions.
