Rough Play
''Rough Play'' (; lit. "An Actor Is an Actor") is a 2013 South Korean film about an actor (played by Lee Joon) who becomes a superstar overnight then hits rock bottom. It is written and executive produced by Kim Ki-duk, and directed by Shin Yeon-shick. It screened at the 18th Busan International Film Festival, and was released in theaters on October 24, 2013. Plot Oh Young (Lee Joon) is an intense young actor, full of vigor for his chosen field. He currently performs regularly for a small theater company as well as playing minor roles in movies. A manager named Kim Jang-Ho (Seo Bum-Suk) then spots Oh Young on the filming set of a movie. He sees potential in Oh Young and offers to make him a top actor. After signing his contract, Oh Young's role in the movie is rewritten into a major supporting character. Shin Yeon-shick
Shin Yeon-shick (born 1976) is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. He directed ''The Fair Love'' (2010), ''The Russian Novel'' (2013), and ''Rough Play'' (2013). Career Born in Seoul in 1976, Shin Yeon-shick dropped out of his Spanish Studies major at university to pursue a career in filmmaking. He made his directorial debut in 2003 with ''Piano Lesson'', made on a micro-budget of . In 2005, Shin wrote and directed the black-and-white indie ''A Great Actor'', which had its international premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. His next film was ''The Fair Love'' (2010), a nuanced, lyrical inter-generational romance starring Ahn Sung-ki and Lee Ha-na. But despite its well-known actors and positive reviews, the film was a box office failure with mainstream audiences. Shin continued making low-budget experimental films. Ahn Sung-ki
Ahn Sung-ki (born January 1, 1952) is a South Korean actor. One of the country's most respected actors, he has appeared in more than 130 films during his career of over 60 years. Career A native of Seoul, Ahn was the son of a veteran filmmaker and producer and started out as a child actor, appearing in director Kim Ki-young's celebrated film '' The Housemaid'' (1960). He stopped acting in films to concentrate on his studies but was active in theater as a student at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. He completed mandatory military service in 1976 as an artillery officer after earning his commission via the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program. Fantasporto, also known as Fantas, is an international film festival, annually organized since 1981 in Porto, Portugal. The Baeksang Arts Awards (), also known as the Paeksang Arts Awards, are awards for excellence in film, television and theatre in South Korea.
