Rough Diamonds (film)
''Rough Diamonds'' is a 1994 Australian film directed by Donald Crombie. It was the first lead role in a feature for Jason Donovan.Ed. Production Donald Crombie was inspired to make the film while filming ''The Irishman'' in north Queensland in 1977. He saw a farmer, who owned 80,000 hectares of beef country and on paper was a millionaire, working on a council road gang to make money. He wrote this up as a social drama for Film Australia to star Michelle Fawdon but it was never made. A number of years later Crombie was approached by Damien Parer who wanted to make features in Queensland and was looking for projects; Crombie showed him his treatment and they developed it into a more populist film.Andrew L. Donald Crombie
Donald Charles Crombie (born 5 July 1942) is an Australian film and television director and screenwriter. Born in Brisbane, Crombie was educated at the Anglican Church Grammar School and studied at the National Institute of Dramatic Art. Crombie started work at the Commonwealth Film Unit in 1963. He has directed feature films, telemovies, mini-series, drama series, documentaries and commercials, and has also written film and television scripts. Crombie has been a board member of the AWG, ASDACS and ASDA and the president of ASDA for over 5 years. He is the father of costume and production designer Fiona Crombie. Jason Donovan
Jason Sean Donovan (born 1 June 1968) is an Australian actor and singer. He initially achieved fame in the Australian soap ''Neighbours'', playing Scott Robinson, before beginning a career in music in 1988. In the UK he has sold over 3 million records. His debut album ''Ten Good Reasons'' was the highest-selling album in the UK in 1989, with sales of over 1.5 million. Angie Milliken is an Australian actress. Life Milliken was born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology then turned to acting. Milliken first became noticed when she starred in the 1991 made-for-TV movie '' Act of Necessity'' for which she was nominated for an Australian Film Institute (AFI) Award. Peter Phelps (born 20 September 1960 in Sydney) is an Australian actor, singer and writer. He is notable for his role as Trevor Cole in ''Baywatch''. Max Cullen (born 29 April 1940) is an Australian stage and screen actor. He has appeared in many Australian films and television series but is best known for his role in the film ''Spider and Rose'' and the television series ''The Flying Doctors'', ''Secret Valley'' and ''Love My Way''. Film Australia was a company established by the Government of Australia to produce films about Australia in 1973. Its predecessors were the Cinema and Photographic Branch (1913–38), the Australian National Film Board (1939–1955, under different departments), and the Commonwealth Film Unit (1956–72). Film Australia became Film Australia Limited in 1988 and was consolidated into Screen Australia in 2008. Administration of the Film Australia Collection was transferred from Screen Australia to the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia on 1 July 2011.
