Rouen Nordic Film Festival
The Rouen Nordic Film Festival (french: Festival du Cinéma Nordique) was a film festival hold in Rouen, France for screening and competition films made in Nordic and Baltic countries, the Netherlands and Belgium. In December 2010, the organisers, in conflict with the City Council, announce their intention to put an end to the festival. Rouen (, ; or ) is a city on the River Seine in northern France. It is the prefecture of the Regions of France, region of Normandy (administrative region), Normandy and the Departments of France, department of Seine-Maritime. Matti Kassila (12 January 1924 – 13 December 2018) was a Finnish film director who achieved fame as one of the most prominent Finnish filmmakers in the 1950s and 1960s. He is most famous for the series of four Inspector Palmu movies, based on the character created by Mika Waltari. During his long career, he won seven Jussi Awards, including a concrete Jussi for lifetime achievement, and received numerous other commendations. Ásdís Thoroddsen (born 26 February 1959) is an Icelandic director, producer, screenwriter, and actress. Biography Thoroddsen was born on 26 February 1959 in Reykjavík, Iceland. She started her career in film as an assistant on the set of an adaptation of Halldór Laxness's novel ''Le Paradis'' for the German channel NDR in 1979. After working at the RÚV from 1979 to 1981, she studied theater in Gothenburg. In 1983, she starred in the film ''Skilaboð til Söndru'' by Kristin Pálsdóttir. Jan Gustaf Troell (born 23 July 1931) is a Swedish writer-director, and cinematographer. His realistic films, with a lyrical photography in which nature is prominent, have placed him in the first rank of modern Swedish film directors along with Ingmar Bergman and Bo Widerberg. Life and career Troell was born in Limhamn outside Malmö, Sweden. For several years, he worked as an elementary-school teacher but started to make short films in the sixties. In 1965 he co-produced the film ''4x4'' and it was entered into the 4th Moscow International Film Festival.
