Rotterdam Hofplein Railway Station
Rotterdam Hofplein railway station in the Netherlands is a former main-line and RandstadRail station. It was the terminus of the former Hofpleinlijn (''Hofplein line'') which ran trains between Rotterdam and Scheveningen, and were later curtailed to The Hague central station. It was located very close to the railway line between Rotterdam Centraal and Rotterdam Blaak, but never had a direct connection to it. History Hofplein station was opened on 1 October 1908 by the Zuid-Hollandsche Electrische Spoorweg-Maatschappij. The viaduct (also called the ''De Hofbogen'') was the first major reinforced concrete construction in the Netherlands and is probably the longest (1,9 km) Rijksmonument (since 2002). The station building was destroyed during the Rotterdam Blitz on 14 May 1940, and a new building was opened in 1956, which was demolished for the construction of a railway tunnel between Rotterdam Centraal, Blaak, and Zuid in the early 1990s. RandstadRail Line E
RandstadRail () is a light rail network in the Rotterdam–The Hague metropolitan area in the west of the Netherlands that is jointly operated by HTM Personenvervoer (HTM) and Rotterdamse Elektrische Tram (RET). It connects the cities of Rotterdam, The Hague and Zoetermeer, primarily using former train and existing tram tracks. Named after the Randstad conurbation, the light rail network came into operation in 2006, after regular train services on the Hofpleinlijn and Zoetermeer Stadslijn had been discontinued. The system consists of four routes and serves 73 stations, with a total length of approximately . In 2018, it had a daily ridership of around 125,000 passengers. Rotterdamse Elektrische Tram (RET; en, Rotterdam Electric Tram) is the main public transport operator in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It started in 1905 when they took over the city tram lines from RTM (Rotterdamsche Tramweg Maatschappij). It currently operates 64 bus lines, 11 tram lines and five metro/ light rail lines in Rotterdam and the surrounding municipalities. Meijersplein / Airport is a metro station, as a part of the Rotterdam metro and the regional light rail system RandstadRail, located in Schiebroek, a borough of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. History Construction of Meijersplein station began in January 2008. The station was built to replace Wilgenplas station, located approximately north. Wilgenplas was served by railway trains on the Hofplein line before that line was converted for use by metro trains and the station was temporarily kept in service after this conversion took place in 2006. In May 2010 construction of Meijersplein station completed and Wilgenplas station was duly closed down on 12 May. Rodenrijs is a metro station, as a part of the Rotterdam metro and the regional light rail system RandstadRail, located in Rodenrijs, the Netherlands. History The railway station opened here on 1 October 1908 as part of the Hofpleinlijn. As the nearby station Berkel was closed in 1965, the name of the Rodenrijs station was changed into Berkel en Rodenrijs.
