Rostam And Sohrab
The tragedy of Rostam and Sohrab forms part of the 10th-century Persian epic ''Shahnameh'' by the Persian poet Ferdowsi. Shahnameh
The ''Shahnameh'' or ''Shahnama'' ( fa, شاهنامه, Šāhnāme, lit=The Book of Kings, ) is a long epic poem written by the Persian poet Ferdowsi between c. 977 and 1010 CE and is the national epic of Greater Iran. Consisting of some 50,000 "distichs" or couplets (two-line verses), the ''Shahnameh'' is one of the world's longest epic poems. It tells mainly the mythical and to some extent the historical past of the Persian Empire from the creation of the world until the Muslim conquest in the seventh century. Matthew Arnold (24 December 1822 – 15 April 1888) was an English poet and cultural critic who worked as an inspector of schools. He was the son of Thomas Arnold, the celebrated headmaster of Rugby School, and brother to both Tom Arnold, literary professor, and William Delafield Arnold, novelist and colonial administrator. Loris Haykasi Tjeknavorian ( hy, Լորիս Ճգնավորյան; fa, لوریس چکناواریان; born 13 October 1937) is an Iranian Armenians, Iranian Armenian composer and conductor. Rostam And Sohrab (opera)
''Rostam and Sohrab'' is an opera by Loris Tjeknavorian. It is based on the story Rostam and Sohrab in the epic ''Shahnameh''. Its composition took 25 years. In 1963, Carl Orff granted Loris Tjeknavorian a scholarship which allowed him to reside in Salzburg and to complete his opera in Austria. Iranian director Behrouz Gharibpour brought ''Rostam and Sohrab'' to the stage as a puppet show in October 2006. It was first puppet show in Iran to feature the tale. The show involves 100 marionettes and 15 puppeteers and it was first performed in Tehran's Ferdowsi Hall in 2005. ''Rustam and Zohrab'' (in Azeri ''Rüstәm vә Söһrab'') is the third mugham opera by Uzeyir Hajibeyov. It was composed in 1910 based on the story of Rostam and Sohrab of the epic poem ''Shahnameh'' by Ferdowsi, and written in Persian. Hajibeyov shortened the mugham scene in this opera, devoting much attention to the author's music. The existence of several versions of its libretto created an authorship controversy. Vishram Bedekar
Vishwanath Chintamani Bedekar (1906–1998), who professionally used the name Vishram Bedekar, was an Indian Marathi-language writer and film director. Bedekar was born on August 13, 1906 in Amravati. After receiving his college degree in Amravati, he went to Nagpur for his post-graduate studies. During his college days, he was drawn to English literature and theater.
