Benjamin Rossman
Benjamin E. Rossman is an American mathematician and theoretical computer scientist, specializing in computational complexity theory. He is currently an associate professor of computer science and mathematics at Duke University. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with B.A. in 2001 and M.A. in 2002. He received in 2011 his Ph.D. with advisor Madhu Sudan from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT with thesis ''Average-Case Complexity of Detecting Cliques''. From 2010 to 2013 Rossman was a postdoc at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. From 2013 to 2016 he was an assistant professor in the Ken-ichi Kawarabayashi, Kawarabayashi Large Graph Project of the National Institute of Informatics. Mike Rossman
Mike Rossman (born Michael Albert DePiano on July 1, 1955) is an American former professional boxer who was the WBA light heavyweight champion of the world. He is of both Italian and Jewish descent, which led to his monikers "The Kosher Butcher" and "The Jewish Bomber". Life and career Rossman was born in Turnersville, New Jersey, as Michael Albert DePiano. Rossman is his mother's maiden name, which he uses rather than that of his father. Rossman's father was Italian, and his mother Jewish. He is Jewish, and boxed with a Star of David on his shorts. He began boxing at 14 and turned pro on August 10, 1973. Rossman fought Víctor Galíndez for the light heavyweight championship of the world on the undercard of an Ali–Spinks rematch in September 1978. Dirk Rossmann GmbH, commonly referred to as Rossmann, is one of the largest drug store chains in Europe with around 56,200 employees and more than 4000 stores. In 2019 Rossmann had more than €10 billion turnover in Germany, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Albania, Kosovo and Spain. The company was founded in 1972 by Dirk Rossmann with its headquarters in Burgwedel near Hanover in Germany. The Rossmann family owns 60% of the company. The Hong Kong-based A.S. Rossmann (supercomputer)
Rossmann is a supercomputer at Purdue University that went into production September 1, 2010. The high-performance computing cluster is operated by Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP), the university's central information technology organization. ITaP also operates clusters named Steele built in 2008, Coates built in 2009, Hansen built in the summer of 2011 and Carter built in the fall of 2012 in partnership with Intel. Rossmann ranked 126 on the November 2010 TOP500 list. Hardware The Rossmann cluster consists of HP ProLiant DL165 G7 compute nodes with 64-bit, dual 12-core AMD Opteron 6172 processors (24 cores per node), either 48 or 96 GB of memory and 250 GB of local disk for system software and scratch storage. Rossmann Fold
The Rossmann fold is a tertiary fold found in proteins that bind nucleotides, such as enzyme cofactors FAD, NAD+, and NADP+. This fold is composed of alternating beta strands and alpha helical segments where the beta strands are hydrogen bonded to each other forming an extended beta sheet and the alpha helices surround both faces of the sheet to produce a three-layered sandwich. The classical Rossmann fold contains six beta strands whereas Rossmann-like folds, sometimes referred to as Rossmannoid folds, contain only five strands. The initial beta-alpha-beta (bab) fold is the most conserved segment of the Rossmann fold. The motif is named after Michael Rossmann who first noticed this structural motif in the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase in 1970 and who later observed that this was a frequently occurring motif in nucleotide binding proteins. Mount Rossman
Mount Rossman () is a prominent wedge-shaped, ice-free mountain, 1,450 m, located at the north end of the Enterprise Hills between Union and Henderson Glaciers, in the Heritage Range in Antarctica. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos from 1961 to 1966. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) after Rossman W. Sydney Rossman (born May 27, 1995) is American retired ice hockey goaltender, who played with both the Minnesota Whitecaps and the Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). Playing career During her youth, Rossman trained with the Carroll Goalie School. Phillip Rossman
Phillip Rossman (March 4, 1836 – December 8, 1891) was an American businessman and politician. Born in Germany, Rossman and his parents emigrated to the United States and settled in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, in 1851. In 1871, Rossman moved to Clark County, Wisconsin, and settled in the town of Beaver where he had a farm and saw mill. He was a farmer and in the lumber and manufacturing business. Rossman served as chairman of the Beaver Town Board and as Beaver Town Treasurer; he also served on the Clark County Board of Supervisors and was a Republican. In 1891, Rossman served in the Wisconsin State Assembly until his death. Michael Rossmann
Michael G. Rossmann (30 July 1930 – 14 May 2019) was a German-American physicist, microbiologist, and Hanley Distinguished Professor of Biological Sciences at Purdue University who led a team of researchers to be the first to map the structure of a human common cold virus to an atomic level. He also discovered the Rossmann fold protein motif. His most well recognised contribution to structural biology is the development of a phasing technique named molecular replacement, which has led to about three quarters of depositions in the Protein Data Bank. Charles Irvin "Bubby" Rossman (born June 29, 1992) is an American-Israeli professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He played college baseball for Cerritos College and California State University, Dominguez Hills. He was selected in the 22nd round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
