Rossie, Fife
Collessie is a village and parish of Fife, Scotland. The village is set on a small hillock centred on a historic church. Due to rerouting of roads, it now lies north of the A91. Though a railway embankment was constructed through the middle of the village in the 19th century, it retains many of its traditional 17th-18th century houses. In recent years some of the older houses have been re-roofed in traditional thatch. Name Collessie's name derives from Scottish Gaelic but the exact derivation is unknown. The first element is either ''cùl'' (behind) or ''cùil'' (nook) and the last element could be either ''eas'' (waterfall) or ''lios'' (enclosure, garden). Rossie is a town in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The population was 877 at the 2010 census. The town is named after the sister of an early land owner. The Town of Rossie is located on the southwestern border of the county and is west of Gouverneur. History The first settler arrived ''circa'' 1807. Rossie Priory
Rossie Priory is a category B listed country house and estate to the north of Inchture, near the hamlets of Baledgarno and Knapp, Perthshire, Scotland. It lies by road west of the city centre of Dundee. The large estate is roughly 2000 acres. Rossie Priory house Rossie Priory was designed by the architect William Atkinson in Regency Gothic Style. It was designed as a house (1807) for Charles Kinnaird, 8th Lord Kinnaird as the seat of the Kinnaird family and replaced Drimmie House, which was subsequently demolished. The house was added to between 1839-40 and the chapel completed in 1865-66. A large portion of the house was demolished in 1948, as the vast building was deemed too impractical to maintain in the twentieth century, and alterations were carried out in 1949 by architect Sir Basil Spence. Bob Rosburg
Robert Reginald "Rossie" Rosburg (October 21, 1926 – May 14, 2009) was an American professional golfer who later became a sports color analyst for ABC television. Early years, college Rosburg was born in San Francisco, California. He played golf as a junior at the Olympic Club, and at the age of 12, he faced the then-retired baseball Hall of Famer, Ty Cobb, in the first flight of the club championship, and beat Cobb 7 and 6. Rosburg says Cobb was gracious in defeat and shook the young Rosburg's hand, but Cobb took so much kidding from the other Olympic Club members that for many years, Rosburg hardly ever saw Cobb back at the club. Rosburg was an outstanding baseball player at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California during the 1940s, and almost chose baseball as a career over golf. Simon “Rossie” Ross (born 17 January 1967) is a British radio presenter. He has hosted the breakfast show on Greatest Hits Radio since its launch in 2019. He previously presented the Radio City breakfast show until May 2014. Early years Ross grew up in Armagh and attended St Patricks Grammar School, Armagh Technical College and The College of Business Studies, Belfast. There have been three baronetcies created for persons with the surname Hutchison, all in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. Two creations are extant as of 2010. Rossie (1807 Ship)
''Rossie'' was a schooner launched at Baltimore in 1807. At the outbreak of the War of 1812 she became a privateer, operating under a letter of marque. She made two voyages, the first as a privateer, and the less successful second as a letter of marque. The British captured her in January 1813. Construction Thomas Kemp of Fell's Point, Baltimore, built and launched her. He would go to build several other schooners that would become among the most successful privateer of the war, such as ''Chasseur''. First letter of marque ''Rossie'' was commissioned on 11 July 1812, right at the outbreak of the war. Her owners hired Joshua Barney as her captain and Silvanus Long as her first lieutenant. She had letter of marque #1. On her first cruise under Barney she captured some 18 vessels in six weeks off Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Barney then put in at Newport, Rhode Island on 30 August.
