Rossburn Municipality is a rural municipality (RM) in the Parkland Region of Manitoba, Canada. It was named for Reverend Richard R. Ross, an early settler to the region. History The RM was incorporated on January 1, 2015, via the amalgamation of the RM of Rossburn and the town of Rossburn. It was formed as a requirement of '' The Municipal Amalgamations Act'', which required that municipalities with a population less than 1,000 amalgamate with one or more neighbouring municipalities by 2015. The Government of Manitoba initiated these amalgamations in order for municipalities to meet the 1997 minimum population requirement of 1,000 to incorporate a municipality. A rural municipality (RM) is a type of incorporated municipality in the Canadian province of Manitoba. Under the province's ''Municipal Act'' of 1997, an area must have a minimum population of 1,000 and a density of less than to incorporate as a rural municipality. Manitoba has 98 RMs, which had a cumulative population of 301,438 as of the 2016 Census. Riding Mountain National Park is a national park in Manitoba, Canada. The park is located within Treaty 2 Territory and sits atop the Manitoba Escarpment. Consisting of a protected area , the forested parkland stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding prairie farmland. It was designated a national park because it protects three different ecosystems that converge in the area; grasslands, upland boreal and eastern deciduous forests. The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016. Rossburn
Rossburn is an unincorporated urban community in the Rossburn Municipality, Manitoba. Prior to 1 January 2015, Rossburn was designated as a town. It is near Waywayseecappo First Nation. There is an elementary school and a collegiate school. Rossburn is also home to Brandon Wheat Kings player Chad Nychuk who was deemed the name “The Rossburn Rifle” after scoring multiple game winning goals as a 20 year old. Chad became a fan favourite in the Westman area and you can find his face on shirts around the area. “The rifle” was born and raised in Rossburn and put it on the map.
