Ross Lyon
Ross Lyon (born 8 November 1966) is a former Australian rules football player and the senior coach of the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously coached St Kilda from 2007 to 2011 and the Fremantle Football Club from 2012 to 2019. He played for Fitzroy and the Brisbane Bears from 1985 to 1995. Playing career Fitzroy Lyon began his career with Fitzroy in 1985. After playing the last five games of the season and the first game in 1986 he missed the remainder of the season and most of 1987 due to groin and back injuries that was later diagnosed as spondylolisthesis. He returned to play 19 games in 1988 and ended up playing 127 games over the next ten years until the end of the 1994 season. Reservoir Football Club
The Reservoir Football Club is an Australian rules football club located 12 km north of Melbourne in the suburb of Reservoir. History Founded in 1923, the club initially competed in the Bourke-Evelyn Football League. After moving from Diamond Valley, Metropolitan, and Panton Hill football leagues, the club settled in the Diamond Valley Football League, now known as the Northern Football League, in 1981 where the club has remained since. The club has juniors which have won several under-age premierships in DVFL and the PDJFA. Due to a shortage of players for season 2007, the Reservoir Football Club went into recess but resumed in 2008. In 2009 the NFL Division 2 split. The bottom 6 teams (out of 14) dropped down and created Division 3. Reservoir were placed 13th and were relegated to Division 3 where they have competed ever since. David Parkin
David Alex Parkin, OAM (born 12 September 1942) is a former Australian rules footballer and coach who played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and for the Subiaco Football Club in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). However, Parkin's stature in the history of Australian rules football is based mainly on his achievements as a coach. Building on his experience as a player and educator, Parkin won four premierships (one at Hawthorn, three at Carlton) and is considered one of the most influential coaches of the modern era. Tony Elshaug
Anthony Elshaug (born 19 July 1960) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club, Essendon Football Club and Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Since retiring, he has worked as an assistant coach and recruitment officer at various AFL clubs. Playing career A rover, Elshaug made his league debut in 1979 with Melbourne and by the age of 19 was representing Victoria in interstate football. He crossed to Essendon in 1984 and was a member of its 1985 premiership side, kicking 37 goals for the season. Anthony Rock
Anthony Rock (born 29 September 1970) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for North Melbourne and Hawthorn in the VFL/AFL. Junior career Rock played his junior football at St Dominic's Junior FC—a club that later folded due to lack of parent volunteers, leaving him without a club at age 13. He moved to the Hadfield Football Club, and it was this club from which he was recruited by North Melbourne. AFL career He made his debut in the league during the 1988 season with North Melbourne. Stephen Silvagni
Stephen Silvagni (born 31 May 1967) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). As the second member of three generations of Silvagnis to represent the Blues, he is regarded as one of the greatest ever full-backs to play the game and was named as full-back in the AFL Team of the Century and is an inductee in the Australian Football Hall of Fame. Prior to 1985 he captained the undefeated Marcellin College 1st XVIII that won both the 1984 Associated Grammar Schools premiership, and the coveted Herald Shield Cup then played under lights at Waverley Park. AFL Team Of The Century
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. 2006 AFL Finals Series
The Australian Football League's 2006 finals series took place between the teams that finished in the top eight in the 2006 AFL season. It began on the weekend of 8 September 2006 and ended with the 110th AFL Grand Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 30 September 2006. The winner, West Coast Eagles, was crowned champion of the AFL after defeating Sydney by one point. Eight teams qualified for the finals by finishing in the top eight of the premiership ladder. With the top eight race effectively ending several rounds before the end of the season, the push for the final two positions in the top four heated up as all six teams below West Coast and Adelaide were vying for the crucial "double chance" with only a few rounds left. With wins in the final round, Fremantle and Sydney secured the "double chance" making it the first time in the game's history where the top four positions did not consist of a single Victorian team. Grant Thomas (footballer)
Grant Thomas (born 14 February 1958) is a former Australian rules football player and coach. He most recently held the position of coach of the St Kilda Football Club from 2001–2006. He attended St Bede's College in Mentone. Playing career Thomas began his career at the St Kilda Football Club in the VFL, debuting in 1978. He took a long time to break into the side as a regular senior player, but settled in as a centre half-back. He played 72 games for the Saints between 1978 and 1983 before briefly moving to North Melbourne in 1984, and finishing his career at Fitzroy in 1985. John Longmire
John Longmire (born 31 December 1970) is the current coach of the Sydney Swans. As a player, he represented the North Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) from 1988 to 1999. Early years Longmire was born in Corowa, New South Wales. Paul Roos (footballer)
Paul Roos (born 27 June 1963) is a former Australian rules football coach who coached the Sydney Swans and Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). As a player, he represented and during the 1980s and 1990s. A versatile key position player, Roos was a strong mark who was excellent at ground level, and in his prime was rated the best footballer in Australia. He was one of the Fitzroy Lions' finest players in its final years, and was named at centre half back in Fitzroy's Team of the Century. In his 17 seasons of League football, he was only reported once, for abusive language, and was found not guilty. Roos was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
