Ross Davis (bowls)
Ross Davis (born 1994) is an international lawn bowls player from Jersey. He became the British singles champion after winning the British Isles Bowls Championships in 2018. Bowls career Commonwealth Games Davis represented Jersey at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia. He competed in the triples event where the team reached the quarter-finals. In October 2021, Davis was selected to represent Jersey in the 2022 Commonwealth Games being held in Birmingham. In 2022, he competed in the men's singles and the men's pairs at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Other events Davis has won three British titles, he won the blue riband event (the singles) in 2018 in addition to the 2016 fours and 2019 pairs. In 2019 he won the pairs bronze medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. In 2020 he was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia. Atlantic Bowls Championships
The Atlantic Bowls Championships was a lawn bowling competition held between national bowls organisations in the Atlantic region. The event was a qualifying event for the World Outdoor Bowls Championships until the 2021 announcement that it would no longer be held. Originally the Championships were for women only and were called the Atlantic Rim Championships. In 2007 men competed for the first time at the event. The 2001 tournament due to be held in Namibia was cancelled due to opposition from the Namibia Sports Commission. The next tournament was held in 2005. British Isles Bowls Championships
The British Isles Bowls Championships is a tournament held between the champions of their respective nations, England Scotland, Wales, combined Ireland and more recently Guernsey and Jersey. It was first held in 1960 although the triples event did not start until 1977. The women's events started in June 1972, with the triples starting in 1982. The first women's singles winner was Lilian Nicholas of Wales. The first men's singles winner was Kenneth Coulson of England and the legendary David Bryant (bowls), David Bryant MBE holds the record for the most singles titles with four. The tournament is held the year after each of the National champions have been crowned. The 2020 edition was initially cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but because there were no National Championships held during 2020 (also due to the pandemic) the 2020 edition was rescheduled for 2021. Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". 2018 Commonwealth Games
The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018. The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship
The 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was to be the 14th edition of the World Championships to be held at the Broadbeach Bowls Club, Musgrave Hill Bowls Club and Club Helensvale on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. There were to be eight events that determined the 2021 world champions, the men's singles, doubles, triples and fours and the women's singles, doubles, triples and fours and in addition there are two overall team winners who receive the Leonard and Taylor trophies respectively. It was originally scheduled from 23 May to 7 June 2020 but the event was officially cancelled on 9 March 2021. Malcolm De Sousa
Malcolm De Sousa (born 12 July 1991) is an international lawn bowler from Jersey. Bowls career De Sousa represented Jersey at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2018 Commonwealth Games In 2011 he won singles and pairs bronze medals at the Atlantic Bowls Championships and in 2019 he won the fours silver medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. De Sousa has won two British titles, winning the fours in 2016 and pairs in 2019 at the British Isles Bowls Championships.
