Rosensteinpark Stuttgart
The Rosenstein Park (german: Rosensteinpark) in Stuttgart is the largest English garden in southwest Germany. Its creation took place from 1824 to 1840 on the orders of King William I of Württemberg after plans of his gardener Johann Bosch on the former ''Kahlenstein'' area. From 1817 to 1818 King William I had purchased all land on the Kahlenstein from the citizens of Cannstatt. In the middle of the park the ''Rosenstein Palace'' was built from 1822 to 1830. The ''Wilhelma'' zoo and the ''State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart'' are also located in the park. The ''Löwentor'' (Lion's Gate) at the upper park entrance was built by Giovanni Salucci. The '' Rosenstein Tunnel'' is a railway tunnel beneath the park. Today the park is owned by the State of Baden-Württemberg and preserved as a historical monument.Current Status

Rosenstein Tunnel
The Rosenstein tunnel (german: Rosensteintunnel) is the name of several past, present and planned tunnels in the Stuttgart metropolitan area, in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. Today it is a railway tunnel under Rosenstein Park to Bad Cannstatt. It now connects the Fils Valley Railway (''Filstalbahn'') from Stuttgart Central Station (''Hauptbahnhof'') to the Rosenstein Bridge over the Neckar to Bad Cannstatt station. Rosenstein first tunnel (1844-1915) The first railway tunnel in Württemberg was built during the construction of the Württemberg Central Railway (''Zentralbahn'') directly under the central axis of Rosenstein Castle. This tunnel was planned by Carl Etzel to link Stuttgart with Cannstatt. In principle, the Rosenstein hill could have been bypassed, but the tunnel allowed a better positioning of Cannstatt station and kept the palace garden (''Schlossgarten'') from being cut by the railway. Nevertheless, its construction was controversial, as critics feared ...

European Hare
The European hare (''Lepus europaeus''), also known as the brown hare, is a species of hare native to Europe and parts of Asia. It is among the largest hare species and is adapted to temperate, open country. Hares are herbivorous and feed mainly on grasses and herbs, supplementing these with twigs, buds, bark and field crops, particularly in winter. Their natural predators include large birds of prey, canids and felids. They rely on high-speed endurance running to escape predation, having long, powerful limbs and large nostrils. Generally nocturnal and shy in nature, hares change their behaviour in the spring, when they can be seen in broad daylight chasing one another around in fields. During this spring frenzy, they sometimes strike one another with their paws ("boxing"). This is usually not competition between males, but a female hitting a male, either to show she is not yet ready to mate or to test his determination. The female nests in a depression on the surface of the grou ...

Killesbergpark
The Killesbergpark (Höhenpark Killesberg) is an urban public park of half a square kilometre (123 acres) in Stuttgart, Germany. It is just north of the state capital, where Killesberg is a quarter of the borough of ''Stuttgart-Nord'' (North). The park dates back to the horticultural show of 1939. Before the show, a large area of the park had been a quarry. It was transformed into a park with exhibition sites for the show, and has remained, hosting horticultural events on a regular basis, including the “Bundesgartenschau” and the ''IGA'' (Internationale Gartenbauausstellung), both garden festivals. The Killesbergpark bordered for many years the city's fairgrounds. In 2007, Messe Stuttgart moved to new ground close to Stuttgart Airport. Every July the park hosts the popular Lichterfest Stuttgart. Thousands of lanterns are placed around the park, decorating the park for a variety of family activities throughout. After dark, there is a fireworks show accompanied by music. Vis ...
