Rosengård (literally "Rose Manor") was a city district ( sv, stadsdel) in the center of Malmö Municipality, Sweden. On 1 July 2013, it was merged with Husie, forming Öster. In 2012, Rosengård had a population of 23,563 of the municipality's 307,758. Its area was 332 hectares. Rosengård is often incorrectly referred to as a suburb, although the area is located centrally in Malmö, neighbouring the former city district Centrum. Long a destination for immigrants, 86% of the population had some foreign ancestry in 2008. History Most of Rosengård was built between 1967 and 1972 as a part of the Million Programme although some parts, such as the mansion in Herrgården, and Östra kyrkogården, are older. Herrgården
Herrgården is a neighbourhood of Malmö, situated in the district of Öster, Malmö Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden. History A mansion ("herrgård") from 1817 is located in the area. The Kockums family owned it from 1848 to some years after 1959, when the last owner (who had no children) died. It was leased for some years, then sold to a company and later became the city's property. One more floor was added in 1870. Since 1990, the building has been used by a culture association for young people. 2020 Sweden Riots
On 29 August 2020, riots broke out in the Swedish cities of Malmö and Ronneby. After Swedish police prevented Rasmus Paludan, a Danish politician, from entering the country, far-right anti-immigration activists held protests and burned the Quran. In response, a mob of 300 people gathered in counter-protest, burned tires, threw rocks and chunks of concrete at the police, and smashed bus shelters, and witnesses heard shouts of " Allāhu ʾakbar" and "La ilaha ilallah". A prominent Malmö imam responded "Those who are acting in this way have nothing to do with Islam." 2022 Sweden Riots
Riots occurred in several Swedish cities in April 2022, primarily against police who were stationed to protect events planned by Danish provocateur Rasmus Paludan. The motivation for the violence was ostensibly Paludan's plan to burn a Quran; however, the police suspect that the event was used by criminal groups to target police. Two-thirds of those injured were police officers. Background Rasmus Paludan is a Danish-Swedish politician and head of the Hard Line party, who has been known for staging similarly provocative events in the past. The party is almost exclusively associated with its founder and his anti-Islam activism and demonstrations. Vulnerable Area
Vulnerable area ( sv, Utsatt område) is a term applied by police in Sweden to areas with high crime rates and social exclusion. In the December 2015 report, these areas numbered 53. In the June 2017 report, these totalled 61. The increase is reported to be due to better reporting, not a changing situation. The overall trend is that these areas are improving. All the areas are situated south of the town of Gävle, however only 11,4% of Sweden's total population live in the Norrland region, and most are areas constructed during the Million Programme (MP), although there are towns north of Gävle having MP areas they do not experience the crime rate of some southern MP areas.
