Rosenborg, Trondheim
Rosenborg () is a neighbourhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Østbyen. It is located east of Møllenberg, south of Lademoen, north of Tyholt, and west of Persaunet. The eastern part of Rosenborg also borders to Kristiansten Fortress and the surrounding park. The area is mostly residential, both houses and apartments. There is also a large amateur football arena that among others hosts the women's team Trondheims-Ørn. The area also has given name to the Norwegian Premier League team Rosenborg Ballklub, that now is located at Lerkendal. Rosenvinge (noble Family)
Rosenvinge (lit. ‘Rose Wing’) is a Danish and Norwegian noble family. Origin Rosenvinge in Denmark The family's progenitor, Mogens Jensen (d. 1528), who was the secretary of Prince Christian (1481–1559), later overlord in Bergenhus and Mayor of Helsingør, was ennobled on 31 May 1505. He married Anna Pedersdatter, who was the daughter of Peder Hansen, Mayor of Helsingør, who himself had been ennobled in 1476 by King Christian I of Denmark. Mogens Jensen was the father of Henrik Mogensen Rosenvinge (d. 1553). His patrilineal grandson Mogens Henriksen Rosenvinge (1540–1607) was Mayor of Odense. Mogens Henriksen's sons Jørgen Mogensen Rosenvinge (1570–1634), Mayor of Odense, and Jens Mogensen Rosenvinge, City Manager of Odense, became the progenitors of, respectively, the Norwegian branch and the Danish branch of the family. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. The purpose was to co-operate on publishing encyclopaedias and dictionaries. The first volume of Store norske leksikon (SNL) was published in 1978. A total of four editions was published (the last one in 2004), before the online version was transferred to Institusjonen Fritt Ord og Sparebankstiftelsen DnB in 2011. Kunnskapsforlaget is the largest dictionary publisher in Norway. They publish both printed books, and digital dictionaries that are available through the online service Ordnett (launched in 2004). The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with more than two million unique visitors per month. Lerkendal, Trondheim
Lerkendal () is a borough in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. The borough was established on 1 January 2005 in a municipal borough reform that reduced the number of boroughs in the city. The borough of Østbyen lies to the east, Midtbyen lies to the northwest, and Heimdal lies to the southwest. The boroughs oversee health, welfare, and education for their residents. The borough is located south of Gløshaugen and Elgeseter, west of Berg, north of Tempe and mostly east of the river Nidelva. The area is dominated by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, SINTEF, and Lerkendal Stadion (the home stadium of Rosenborg). Rosenborg Ballklub, commonly referred to simply as Rosenborg () or RBK, is a Norwegian professional football club from Trondheim that plays in Eliteserien. The club has won a record 26 league titles, a shared record 12 Norwegian Football Cup titles and have played more UEFA matches than any other Norwegian team. RBK play their home games at the all-seater Lerkendal Stadion which has a capacity of 21,421. The club was founded as Odd in 1917 but were not allowed to play amateur league matches until 1928, when they took the present name. They reached the League of Norway in 1937–38, but were relegated to lower divisions during the 1940s. The club moved to Lerkendal in 1957 and their first title was the 1960 Cup, resulting in their first participation in a UEFA tournament. Eliteserien () is a Norwegian professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the Norwegian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Norwegian First Division. Seasons run from March to November with each team playing 30 matches (playing each other home and away). Most games are played on Sunday evenings. Rosenborg Ballklub Kvinner (previously known as Sportsklubben Trondheims-Ørn) is a Norwegian women's professional football club in Trondheim, Trøndelag. History The club was founded as a multi-sports club on May 18, 1917, and became a member of the Workers' Sports Federation in the 1920s. It was first based in Lademoen and had a clubhouse at Buran between 1946 and the 1960s. It had sections for men's football, Nordic skiing, speed skating, track and field, and swimming. Kristiansten Fortress
Kristiansten Fortress ( no, Kristiansten Festning, historically spelled ''Christiansten'') is located on a hill east of the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway, named after Christian V of Denmark-Norway. It was built after the city fire of Trondheim in 1681 to protect the city against attack from the east. Construction was finished in 1685. It fulfilled its purpose in 1718 when Swedish forces laid siege against Trondheim. The fortress was decommissioned in 1816 by king Charles XIV John. Construction Trondheim was traditionally protected with fortifications by the river Nidelven and Skansen, but the city was vulnerable to attack from the east. The Fortress was therefore put on a hill to protect the city centre and control the area from Ila to Lade. Tyholt
Tyholt is a neighbourhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Lerkendal at the highest point in the city of Trondheim. Before 1964, Tyholt was part of the old municipality of Strinda. It borders the neighborhoods Singsaker to the west, Strindheim to the north, Moholt to the south and Valentinlyst to the east. Most of Tyholt is residential. The area has a good view of Trondheim's city centre and the neighborhoods of Lade and Strinda. Tyholt Tower (''Tyholttårnet'') is a tall communications tower which opened in 1985.
