Rosedale is a rural town and locality split between the Gladstone Region and the Bundaberg Region in central Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Rosedale had a population of 438 people. Geography The town is north of the state capital Brisbane and north west of the regional centre of Bundaberg. The town is on the North Coast railway line. Most of the locality is in the Gladstone Region but a small southern part on the shores of Lake Monduran is in the Bundaberg Region. Despite the town itself being in the Gladstone Region local government area, Rosedale is closer to Bundaberg than Gladstone. There has been some interest in the Rosedale community regarding breaking away from the Gladstone Region. In the east of the locality are the Littabella Conservation Park (which extends into neighbouring Watalgan) and the Littabella National Park (which extends into neighbouring Waterloo and Monduran). John Murray (native Police Officer)
John Murray (23 February 1827 – 30 July 1876) was a Scottish officer in the Australian native police in the British colonies of New South Wales and Queensland. He was an integral part of this paramilitary force for nearly twenty years, supporting European colonisation in south-eastern, central and northern Queensland. He also had an important role in recruiting troopers for the Native Police from the Riverina District in New South Wales. Early life John Murray was born on 23 February 1827 at his family's ''Georgefield'' estate near Langholm in southern Scotland. His grandfather was Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Murray of the East India Company who married a Malayali woman named Contity from Kerala while in India. The offspring of this marriage, including John's father James Murray, were collectively dubbed the "Black Murrays" on account of their darker skin colour. Baffle Creek
The Baffle Creek is a creek in Central Queensland, Australia. Course and features The Baffle Creek rises near Arthurs Seat in the Eurimbula State Forest and just south of the Eurimbula National Park in the Great Dividing Range. The creek flows initially southward, hemmed to the west by the Westwood Range and to the east by Mount Dromedary. The creek continues south crossed by the Bruce Highway just east of Miriam Vale and then turns south east forming braided channels near Sonoma and hemmed to the east by the Gwynne Range resulting in the formation of one named island, Grants Island. It then is crossed by the Bruce Highway again and turns east under Mount Maria then north and flows through the Mouth of Baffle Creek Conservation Park and finally discharges into the Coral Sea south of Rules Beach and northeast of Winfield. Lake Monduran
The Fred Haigh Dam (also called Monduran Dam) is a dam in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, Australia. It was constructed across the Kolan River in 1978 creating Lake Monduran. The dam's catchment area, north of Bundaberg in Queensland, covers 1308 km2. It is named after Frederick Haigh who was Queensland's Commissioner of Irrigation and Water Supply from 1955 to 1974. The Monduran Dam, under construction at the time of his death, was named after him upon completion. History The dam was built to create a more reliable water supply for the sugarcane industry, as rainfall is not always reliable and underground water supplies were dwindling. The North Coast railway line is a 1067 mm railway line in Queensland, Australia. It commences at Roma Street station, Brisbane, and largely parallels the Queensland coast to Cairns in Far North Queensland. The line is electrified between Brisbane and Rockhampton.
