Rose O' The River
''Rose o' the River'' is a 1919 American drama silent film directed by Robert Thornby and written by Kate Douglas Wiggin and Will M. Ritchey. The film stars Lila Lee, Darrell Foss, George Fisher, Robert Brower, Josephine Crowell, and Sylvia Ashton. The film was released on July 20, 1919, by Paramount Pictures. It is not known whether the film currently survives. Plot As described in a film magazine, Rose (Lee) is the center of a typical circle of small town admirers, dangling them all but laying most carefully the chosen suitor Steve Waterman (Foss), foreman of the lumber gang working the forest near her home. They become engaged and he begins constructing a little home when Claude Merrill, a ribbon clerk from Boston who is pretending to be a big businessman, arrives in the community and gives ardent court. Robert Thornby (March 27, 1888 – March 6, 1953) was an American director and actor of the silent era. He directed 75 films between 1913 and 1927. He also appeared in 48 films between 1911 and 1930. He was born in New York, New York, and died in Los Angeles, California. Darrell Foss
Darrell Foss (born Darrell Burton Foss; March 24, 1892 – September 15, 1962) was a film actor. He had a leading role in films including in '' The Loyalty of Taro San'', a Triangle Film Corporation production, and opposite May Allison in at least two films, ''The Walk-Offs'' and '' Held in Trust''. He taught a character played by Gloria Swanson to play the banjo in one film. Biography Darrell Foss was born 28 March 1892 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, USA as Darrell Burton Foss.
