Rose Of The Mountain
''Rose of the Mountain'' (german: Du bist die Rose vom Wörthersee) is a 1952 West German musical comedy film directed by Hubert Marischka and starring Marte Harell, Grethe Weiser and Waltraut Haas.New Austrian Film p. 240 It takes its German title from a popular 1947 song of the same name, which is used in the film as a melody. It was shot at the Spandau Studios in West Berlin and on location in Carinthia at the Hotel Karawankenblick in Pörtschach and around the lake of Wörthersee. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Willi Herrmann and Heinrich Weidemann. Synopsis The Austrian-born dancer Kate Smith and the composer Jack Long meet while working on Broadway. Both are homesick and decide to return home. They go to stay at the country hotel run by Kate's sister Rose. However it turns out that Jack and Rose are old flames. Hubert Marischka
Hubert Marischka (27 August 1882 – 4 December 1959), brother of Ernst Marischka, was an Austrian operetta tenor, actor, film director and screenwriter. Career Marischka was born in Brunn am Gebirge, the son of Jiří (or Johann) Marischka, a supplier to the court of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, and his wife Bertha. Hubert began work as a joiner but trained as a singer and in 1904 began a new career in operetta in the town theatre of St. Pölten in ''Der arme Jonathan'' by Karl Millöcker. He had his first success as a singer in Brünn in 1906, as Danilo in ''Die lustige Witwe''. On 27 July 1907 he sang at the premiere of the '' Der fidele Bauer'' by Leo Fall in Mannheim. Ludwig Schmitz
Ludwig Schmitz (January 28, 1884 – June 28, 1954) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than forty films during his career including the 1951 comedy '' The Heath Is Green''. He was part of the popular comedy duo Tran and Helle along with Joseph Hussels. Schmitz was a member of the SS from 1 March 1934 and a member of the Nazi Party from May 1937, however he was barred from the German film industry from 1941 "due to unworthy behavior". It was only in the 1950s that the popular comedian was seen again in the West German cinema. He died of a heart attack in 1954. Oskar Sima
Oskar Sima (31 July 1896 – 24 June 1969) was an Austrian actor who is best remembered for appearing in supporting roles in countless comedy films from the 1930s to the 1960s. Born in Hohenau an der March, Lower Austria, Sima attended high school in Vienna. After a brief tour in the army during World War I, he began acting in various theatrical productions in Berlin, Vienna, and other cities in Central Europe. He began his film career in 1921, and appeared in a number of German silent films early on. Sima was frequently cast as the comic villain whose machinations get everyone into trouble, although often his villainous stature was used to more chilling effect. In 1929, Sima married actress Lina Woiwode. The couple remained married until Sima's death. Along with Friedl Czepa, Fred Hennings and Leni Riefenstahl he was identified as being an active supporter of the Nazi Party.
