Rose Mary Farenden
Rose Mary Farenden (born 22 May 1964) is a Northern Irish mechanical engineer who was the project manager for the launch of the Ford Focus in 1998. Early life Rose Mary Farenden was born on 22 May 1964 in Belfast in Northern Ireland, where she attended an all-girls school. She gained a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University Belfast (QUB) in 1985. At QUB she was the only female studying Mechanical Engineering. Career Farenden was employed at BP in 1985 as her first job. Three years later, after her departure from BP, she joined the Ford Motor Company in which she was employed as a CAD-CAM specialist. She was deployed at the Dunton Technical Centre (Small & Medium Vehicle Centre) in Essex. She also worked as a powertrain engineer at Dunton, then in 1999, she transferred to the United States to work for Ford. The Ford Mondeo is a large family car manufactured by Ford since 1993. The first Ford model declared as a "world car", the Mondeo was intended to consolidate several Ford model lines worldwide (the European Sierra, the Telstar in Asia and Australia, and the Tempo/Mercury Topaz in North America). The Mondeo nameplate is derived from Latin word "''mundus''", meaning "world". ''Mondeo'' also translates from the international language of Esperanto as 'world'. John Oldfield (engineer)
John Arthur Oldfield (13 January 1937 - September 2002) was a British engineer, and a former senior Ford executive and designer. Early life He was born in Stepney. His family moved soon after to Essex, and he had 4 younger siblings. He was the son of George Oldfield and Alice Bunker, who married in Essex in 1935. He attended the Cranfield Institute of Technology ( Cranfield University), gaining an MSc. Career Ford He joined Ford in 1958, at the age of 21. He became head of the £3bn design project for the Ford Mondeo (CDW27) in May 1986 from Ford Dunton, which was launched in March 1993 at the Geneva Motor Show. The car was made at Genk Body & Assembly in Genk, Belgium, which was to produce around 350,000 a year. The Ford Ka is a small car manufactured by Ford Motor Company from 1996 to 2016 as a city car and from 2016 to 2021 as a subcompact car. It entered its second generation in 2008, produced by Fiat in Tychy, Poland. A third generation was introduced in 2016. The first two generations have a three-door hatchback body style, with the first generation also having a two-door convertible version that was marketed as the StreetKa and a sporty hatch version, the SportKa.
