Rose Garden
A rose garden or rosarium is a garden or park, often open to the public, used to present and grow various types of garden roses, and sometimes rose species. Most often it is a section of a larger garden. Designs vary tremendously and roses may be displayed alongside other plants or grouped by individual variety, colour or class in rose beds. Technically it is a specialized type of shrub garden, but normally treated as a type of flower garden, if only because its origins in Europe go back to at least the Middle Ages in Europe, when roses were effectively the largest and most popular flowers, already existing in numerous garden cultivars. Origins of the rose garden Of the over 150 species of rose, the Chinese ''Rosa chinensis'' has contributed most to today's garden roses; it has been bred into garden varieties for about 1,000 years in China, and over 200 in Europe. Rose Garden (Joe South Song)
"Rose Garden" (sometimes titled "(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden") is a song written in 1967 by American singer-songwriter Joe South. It was first recorded by Billy Joe Royal on his 1967 studio album ''Billy Joe Royal Featuring "Hush"''. Versions by South himself and Dobie Gray appeared shortly after the original. Gray's version became a minor hit in North America in 1969. In 1970, Lynn Anderson recorded "Rose Garden" after hearing Joe South's version. However, Anderson's producer rejected the song's recording because he did not consider it to be a female tune. After much convincing, the song was eventually recorded and released as a single by Columbia Records. The song became a crossover hit after it reached both the American ''Billboard'' country and pop charts. "Rose Garden" also became a major hit worldwide, reaching the number one spot in multiple countries. "Rose Garden" has since been recorded by artists of various styles and musical genres. Notable covers include th ...

Gulistan Of Sa'di
''Gulistān'' ( fa, گُلِستان, Golestān, The Flower Garden; ), sometimes spelled Golestan, is a landmark of Persian literature, perhaps its single most influential work of prose. Written in 1258 CE, it is one of two major works of the Persian poet Sa'di, considered one of the greatest medieval Persian poets. It is also one of his most popular books, and has proved deeply influential in the West as well as the East. The ''Golestan'' is a collection of poems and stories, just as a flower-garden is a collection of flowers. It is widely quoted as a source of wisdom. The well-known aphorism still frequently repeated in the western world, about being sad because one has no shoes until one meets the man who has no feet "whereupon I thanked Providence for its bounty to myself" is from the ''Golestan''. The minimalist plots of the ''Golestans stories are expressed with precise language and psychological insight, creating a "poetry of ideas" with the concision of mathematical for ...

McGill Rose Garden (Charlotte, North Carolina)
McGill Rose Garden is a city supported park at 940 North Davidson Street in the Belmont neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. It has been designated an All-America Rose Selections (AARS) public garden, one of only 4 such gardens in all of North Carolina and one of only 53 in the entire United States. History of the garden The plot of land on which the garden sits was once a coal and ice yard. It was bought in 1950 by Henry McGill, one of the leading philanthropists in Charlotte. His wife Helen began planting roses to soften the grim heritage of the coal yard and, little by little, she transformed the former industrial site into a beautiful garden. Starting in 1967 the garden was opened to the public on every Mother's Day. Eventually there were so many roses that Helen became known as the rose lady. When she died in 1985, her husband Henry took over the development and maintenance of the garden in her memory. On May 10, 1976, with the help of a federal grant which enabled Cha ...
