Rosdorf
Rosdorf is a municipality in the district of Göttingen, in Lower Saxony, Germany. approx. 4 km southwest of Göttingen. Mayors Sören Steinberg (SPD) was elected the new mayor in May 2014, and re-elected in 2021. He is the successor of Harald Grahovac (SPD) who was 18 years in office. Göttingen (, , ; nds, Chöttingen) is a college town, university city in Lower Saxony, central Germany, the Capital (political), capital of Göttingen (district), the eponymous district. General information The origins of Göttingen lay in a village called ''Gutingi, ''first mentioned in a document in 953 AD. Göttingen () is a district (german: Landkreis, links=no) in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the northwest and clockwise) the districts of Northeim and Goslar, and by the states of Thuringia (district of Eichsfeld) and Hesse (districts of Werra-Meißner and Kassel). History In 1885 the Prussian government established the districts of Göttingen, Münden and Duderstadt within the Province of Hanover. These districts existed for 88 years, before they were merged in 1973 to form the present district of Göttingen. On 1 November 2016, it was reformed by the addition of the former district of Osterode. Geography The western half of the district is occupied by the Weserbergland mountains. Thomas Oppermann
Thomas Ludwig Albert Oppermann (27 April 195425 October 2020) was a German politician and member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). From October 2017 until his death he served as Vice President of the Bundestag. In his earlier career, he served as First Secretary (2007–2013) and later as chairman (2013–2017) of the SPD Parliamentary Group in the Bundestag. Oppermann belonged to the right wing of the SPD, known as Seeheimer Kreis. Life and career Oppermann was born in Freckenhorst on 27 April 1954. Oppermann received his abitur from the Goetheschule in Einbeck. Afterwards, he studied German studies and English studies at University of Tübingen. From 1976 to 1978, he worked at Action Reconciliation Service for Peace (ARSP) in the United States. After his return to Germany, he went to law school at University of Göttingen, finishing in 1986.
