Rosanna Tovi
Rosanna "Rosie" Tovi is an American former competitive figure skater who competed in ladies' singles. She is the 1982 Asko Cup champion, 1983 U.S. national junior bronze medalist, and 1992 Eastern Sectional champion. She competed internationally at Prague Skate, Skate Canada International and the Asko Cup. Her coaches included Carlo Fassi, Frank Carroll, and John Nicks. Tovi finished in the top ten at the 1992 U.S. Championships. She was inducted into the Skating Club of Lake Placid Hall of Fame. After turning professional in 1992, she performed pairs and singles. She was named British Professional champion following her performance at the 1998 World Professional Championships in Jaca, Spain. She traveled the world starring in tours, shows and TV specials including Dorothy Hamill's Cinderella Frozen in Time Tour and ABC-TV special and Torvill and Dean's Ice Adventures Tour and BBC television special. Figure Skater
Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport to be included in the Olympic Games, when contested at the 1908 Olympics in London. The Olympic disciplines are men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance; the four individual disciplines are also combined into a team event, first included in the Winter Olympics in 2014. Alicia "JoJo" Starbuck (born February 14, 1951, Birmingham, Alabama), is an American figure skater. With partner Kenneth Shelley, she is a three-time United States pair skating champion (1970–72) and two-time Olympian (1968, 1972). Early life and youth career Starbuck was raised in Downey, California and attended Cerritos College, along with Kenneth Shelley. She was first paired with Shelley for a show in 1959, when they were small children. They started training with coach John Nicks at the Arctic Blades FSC in 1961. Dorothy Stuart Hamill (born July 26, 1956) is a retired American figure skater. She is the 1976 Olympic champion and 1976 World champion in ladies' singles. Early life Hamill was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Chalmers and Carol Hamill. Her father was a mechanical engineer. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to the Riverside neighborhood of Greenwich, Connecticut, where Hamill spent the rest of her childhood. She has two older siblings, a brother, Sandy, and a sister, Marcia. Hamill started skating in early 1965 at the age of 8, taking weekly group lessons. She became more serious about the sport the next season, taking regular private lessons and passing her preliminary and first figure test before the seasonal rink closed in March. Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,303.
