Roresand
Roresand or Roresanden is a village in Grimstad municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located on the southwestern end of the lake Rore along the Norwegian County Road 404. The village sits about northwest of the town of Grimstad, about east of the village of Reddal, and about south of the village of Skiftenes. The lake Syndle lies about to the northwest and the lake Landvikvannet lies about the same distance to the south. Landvik Church sits about south of the village. The cemetery for the church is located in Roresand, right next to the Landvik school. Landvik
Landvik is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1971. The municipality's area is now located in the western and central part of the present-day municipality of Grimstad. The administrative centre was the village of Roresanden, just up the hill from the Landvik Church. Other villages in Landvik include Molland, Reddal, Skiftenes, Tjore, and Østerhus. Today, the name Landvik is still used to designate the westernmost part of the municipality of Grimstad, near the Prestegårdskogen housing development. History The parish of ''Hommedal'' was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt law). In 1865, the municipality was renamed ''Landvig''. Originally, the municipal council met at the Torp farm in Reddal. Starting in the 1840s, the council met at the Landvik farm near the church. Landvik Church
Landvik Church ( no, Landvik kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Grimstad Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is just south of the village of Roresand in the Landvik area. It is the church for the Grimstad parish which is part of the Vest-Nedenes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1824 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 400 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1378, but the first church was likely built during the 12th century. That first church was a stone church and it was the main church for the Hommedal parish, so the church was sometimes called Hommedal church. Rore (lake)
Rore is a lake in the municipalities of Grimstad and Arendal in Agder county, Norway. This lake, which is used as a reservoir, lies mostly in Grimstad. There is a public beach area at the southern end of the lake, near the village of Roresand. The lake is located in the Landvik area, about from the center of the town of Grimstad.
