Georg Rörer
Georg Rörer (Latin: ''Georgius Rorarius'') (October 1, 1492, Deggendorf – April 24, 1557 Jena) was a German Lutheran theologian, clergyman and Protestant reformer. Georg Rörer began his studies at Leipzig University in 1511. He was awarded his Magister in 1520. From 1522, he continued his studies at the University of Wittenberg, where he met Martin Luther, Philipp Melanchthon and Johannes Bugenhagen. He was one of the first clergymen ordained to the office of deacon by Martin Luther in 1525. He assisted as proof-reader in Martin Luther's work of translating the Bible (1522–1545) into the German language. He also served as Luther's secretary. In 1537, John Frederick I, Elector of Saxony exempted him from his ecclesiastical duties and officially commissioned him to work with the documentation of Luther's work. Posey Rorer
Posey Rorer (September 22, 1891 - June 6, 1936) was an American old-time fiddler who was best known for being a member of the American string band Charlie Poole and the North Carolina Ramblers. Biography Posey Wilson Rorer was born in Franklin County, Virginia. He suffered from severely clubbed feet for the first 30 years of his life. At the age of 10 he learned to play the banjo but soon switched to the fiddle. In 1917, he moved to West Virginia but due to the flu epidemic of 1919, he had to return to Virginia. Rorer had become close friends with Charlie Poole and together they performed all over North Carolina in the 1920s.Lornell 1989, p. 162. Sarah Tyson Rorer
Sarah Tyson Rorer (18 October 1849 – 27 December 1937) was an American food writer and pioneer in the field of domestic science. Rorer has been described as the first American dietitian. Biography She was born at Richboro, Pennsylvania, daughter of Charles Tyson Heston, a pharmacist, and Elizabeth Sagers. Rorer received her early education in East Aurora, New York, and was educated in cooking at the New Century School of Cookery, Philadelphia. After she completed school, she herself became a teacher of cooking and dietetics at the New Century Club. In 1884 she founded the Philadelphia School of Cookery. In the course of her career, Mrs. Rorer gave many cooking exhibitions, some of them at the Pennsylvania Chautauqua. She was President of the women's auxiliary board of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua.
