Ronnie Pfeffer
Ronnie Pfeffer (born June 17, 1992) is a Canadian football placekicker and punter for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent on July 1, 2015 by the Toronto Argonauts. He was a member of both the 104th Grey Cup champion Ottawa Redblacks and the 105th Grey Cup champion Argonauts. He played CIS football for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. Canadian Interuniversity Sport Football
U Sports football is the highest level of amateur play of Canadian football and operates under the auspices of U Sports (formerly Canadian Interuniversity Sport). Twenty-seven teams from Canadian universities are divided into four athletic conferences, drawing from the four regional associations of U Sports: Canada West Universities Athletic Association, Ontario University Athletics, Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec, and Atlantic University Sport. Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks Football Players
Wilfrid ( – 709 or 710) was an English bishop and saint. Born a Northumbrian noble, he entered religious life as a teenager and studied at Lindisfarne, at Canterbury, in Francia, and at Rome; he returned to Northumbria in about 660, and became the abbot of a newly founded monastery at Ripon. In 664 Wilfrid acted as spokesman for the Roman position at the Synod of Whitby, and became famous for his speech advocating that the Roman method for calculating the date of Easter should be adopted. Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks Football
The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks football team represents Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario in the sport of Canadian football in the Ontario University Athletics conference of U Sports. The Golden Hawks football team has been in continuous operation since 1961 and has been playing U Sports football (since re-named) in every year since 1962. The team has appeared in five Vanier Cup championships, losing in 1966, 1968 and 1972, and winning the national title in 1991 and 2005. The team has also won eight Yates Cup conference championships, most recently in 2016. In a re-match of the 100th Grey Cup, the Argonauts won the game 27–24, winning their 17th championship. Background Host city It was reported in September 2015 that Ottawa would host the Grey Cup game, and that it would be determined at a board of governor's meeting later that fall.
