Ronnie Edwards (politician)
Rodnette Bethley Edwards, known as Ronnie Edwards (July 20, 1952 – February 24, 2016), was an African-American Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 29 in West and East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. She served for 44 days but did not actually assume the duties of her office because she was in the final stages of a two-year struggle with pancreatic cancer. Background Edwards was born to the late James Bethley and Gladys D. Hammond, her surviving mother, in Woodville in Wilkinson County in southwestern Mississippi. Her House predecessor, Regina Barrow, is also a native of Wilkinson County. Ronnie Lee Edwards (born 28 March 2003) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for EFL League One club Peterborough United. Club career Edwards joined Barnet at the age of nine, and progressed through the club's academy, captaining the under-18s. Aged sixteen, he made his senior debut when he captained a young Bees side in a Middlesex Senior Cup game against Staines Town on 17 December 2019. Four days later he made his league debut as a late substitute against Maidenhead United. He made five appearances for the Bees in the 2019–20 season, before joining Peterborough United after a successful trial against Peterborough Sports in August 2020. He made his debut on 8 September 2020 in the EFL Trophy against Burton Albion. Edwards made his full league debut on 15 December 2020 in a 1–1 draw away to Milton Keynes Dons. Ronnie Claire Edwards (February 9, 1933 – June 14, 2016) was an American actress, best known for playing Corabeth Walton Godsey on the TV series ''The Waltons''. Early life Edwards was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Acting career Edwards acted professionally from 1963 and is best known for the role of the domineering Corabeth Walton Godsey, the wife of storekeeper Ike Godsey played by Joe Conley, in the CBS television series ''The Waltons'', created by Earl Hamner, Jr. She played Charlene's mother Ione Frazier on two episodes of CBS's ''Designing Women''. In 1983, Edwards played Aunt Dolly in Hamner's series ''Boone'', which was cancelled after 10 episodes had aired. She co-starred in the NBC series ''Sara'' (1985) opposite Geena Davis.
