Wallace Roney
Wallace Roney (May 25, 1960 – March 31, 2020) was an American jazz (hard bop and post-bop) trumpeter. He has won 1 Grammy award and has two nominations. Roney took lessons from Clark Terry and Dizzy Gillespie and studied with Miles Davis from 1985 until the latter's death in 1991. Wallace credited Davis as having helped to challenge and shape his creative approach to life as well as being his music instructor, mentor, and friend; he was the only trumpet player Davis personally mentored. Early life and education Roney was born in Philadelphia. He attended Howard University and Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, after graduating from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts of the D. C. Public Schools, where he studied trumpet with Langston Fitzgerald of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Michael James Roney (born July 13, 1954) is an American businessman. He was the chief executive of Bunzl plc, a British multinational distribution and outsourcing company, from 2005 to 2016. Peter Roney
Peter Roney (15 January 1886 – 25 August 1930) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Norwich City and Bristol Rovers prior to the First World War. Footballing career Roney began his footballing career in Scotland with Petershill, Strathclyde and Cambuslang Hibernian, before moving to Scottish League Second Division club Ayr in October 1906. He moved to England in May 1907 and joined Southern League First Division club Norwich City. Two years later, Roney joined divisional rivals Bristol Rovers and became one of the first goalkeepers to score a goal, when he scored from the penalty spot in the club's final match of the 1909–10 season. As of , Roney is the only goalkeeper to have scored for Bristol Rovers. He made a total of 178 Southern League appearances during his six-year stint with the club. Matthew Stephen Roney (born January 10, 1980) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics. Roney was drafted in the first round of the 1998 Major League Baseball draft by the Colorado Rockies. In 2002 he was selected in the Rule 5 draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates and then purchased from the Pirates by the Detroit Tigers. In 2003 he made his major league debut with the Tigers, appearing in 45 games and starting 11 of those. He would compile an overall record of 1-9 with a 5.45 ERA before being released on July 3, 2005. He played for the Oakland Athletics in 2006 but spent much of that time in the minors with the Sacramento River Cats, appearing in only three MLB games. Stone Tavern at Roney's Point is a historic inn and tavern complex located at Roney's Point, Ohio County, West Virginia.
