Carol Ronen is an American politician who served as a Democratic member of both houses of the Illinois General Assembly. Early life Ronen was born March 28, 1945. She earned a bachelor's in political science at Bradley University and a master of public administration from Roosevelt University. Ronen served as the legislative and community affairs director of the Chicago Department of Human Services, as an assistant commissioner of the Chicago Department of Planning and Development, and an assistant commissioner of the Chicago Department of Planning. She also served as the executive director of the Chicago Commission on Women from 1989 to 1990. For a period, she served as the President of the Illinois Task Force on Child Support. When Ronen competed in the Olympics he was 6-1.5 (187 cm) tall, and weighed 168 lbs (76 kg). Eliezer Ronen
Eliezer Ronen ( he, אליעזר רונן, 24 September 1931 – 17 March 2016) was an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the Alignment and Mapam between 1974 and 1977. Biography Born Eliezer Rosenfeld in Mexico City, Ronen attended a local Jewish school and the French Marlos school, where he studied economics. He joined the Mexican branch of Hashomer Hatzair, becoming its co-ordinator. He was also a member of the board of the country's Federation of Zionist Youth, the Community Council and the Zionist Federation of Mexico. In 1952 he made aliyah to Israel, and worked in the Research Department at the Bank of Israel until 1962. He later worked for the Tahal water company, and served as director of the Economic Planning Authority between 1970 and 1972. Moshe Ronen is a Toronto lawyer, and a Jewish community leader. Ronen served as vice-president of the World Jewish Congress, national chair of the Canada-Israel Committee, and president of the Canadian Jewish Congress from 1998 to 2001. Biography He was educated at the Associated Hebrew School and Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto (CHAT) before obtaining a degree in political science and economics from York University and a law degree from the University of Windsor. In the 1970s he was a Jewish student activist as head of the Jewish Students' Network. In the 1970s and 1980s he was an activist in the Movement to Free Soviet Jewry in support of refusenik political prisoners in the Soviet Union, in particular Anatoly Shcharansky, and to allow emigration of Soviet Jews to Israel. Nehama Ronen ( he, נחמה רונן, born 15 September 1961) is a former Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the Centre Party between 2001 and 2003. Biography Ronen studied education and history at Tel Aviv University, gaining a B.Ed. She also studied towards an MA in public administration at the University of Haifa and worked as an administrator. In June 1996 she was appointed Director General of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, a post she held until June 1999. For the May 1999 Knesset elections she was placed seventh on the Centre Party list, but missed out on a seat when they won only six mandates. However, she entered the Knesset on 8 March 2001 as a replacement for Amnon Lipkin-Shahak. Omry Ronen (born Imre Szörényi) (July 12, 1937 in Odessa – November 1, 2012 in Ann Arbor) was an American Slavist, known for his works on the Silver Age of Russian Poetry and especially on the poetry of Osip Mandelstam. Biography Ronen was born in Odessa in 1937 into a Hungarian Jewish family. His father was the biochemist Emerich (Imre) Szörényi (January 12, 1905 – January 17, 1959), known for his work on muscle physiology. From 1934 to 1953, the family lived in the Soviet Union, where Emerich Szörényi headed the tissue protein research department of the Institute of Biochemistry and the biochemistry department of the Institute of Microbiology of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. In 1950, he was appointed head of the newly established Institute of Biochemistry in Hungary, however, he was only able to return to Hungary with his family in 1953.
