Ronalds ZaÄ·is
Ronalds Zaķis (born July 8, 1987) is a Latvian professional basketball player who plays for Donar of the BNXT League. Career Ronalds Zaķis started his career playing for BK Ventspils. In early 2008, he was loaned to VEF Rīga and after the season he declared for the 2008 NBA draft, however, he pulled out and ultimately was never drafted. For 2008-09 Zaķis returned to Ventspils, winning his first Latvian League championship. On July 22, 2014, Zaķis signed a contract with VEF Rīga. With VEF he won his third Latvian championship. On August 12, 2015, Zaķis moved to Slovenian team Union Olimpija for the 2015–16 season. In August 2016, Zaķis returned to Ventspils. In August 2020 he signed for the Rostock Seawolves in the German ProA League. On summer of 2021 he joined Latvian-Estonian Basketball League debutants KK Viimsi and helped them to reach the Final Four. BNXT League
The BNXT League, for sponsorship reasons the betFirst BNXT League, is a professional basketball league in Belgium and the Netherlands. The league is the first tier in both the Dutch and Belgian system, replacing the Dutch Basketball League, DBL and Pro Basketball League, PBL. The inaugural season was the 2021–22 BNXT League, 2021–22 season, which started in September 2021. The BNXT League plays national playoffs as well as a cross-border playoffs to determine a Dutch champion, Belgian champion and BNXT champion. History On 10 December 2020, it was announced that the Belgian Pro Basketball League and Dutch Basketball League would merge to form a new multinational league. Donar (basketball Club)
Donar, also known as Donar Groningen, is a professional basketball club based in Groningen, Netherlands. The club competes in the BNXT League and its home arena is MartiniPlaza, which has a seating capacity of 4,350 people. Donar is one of the traditional first division clubs along with Den Bosch, as it entered the league years ago. The club won the national DBL championship seven times; in 1982, 2004, 2010, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Donar was runner-up in the seasons: 1998, 2006, 2011, 2015. There are also six Dutch Cups in the honor list of Donar; they won the cup in 2005, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. The Latvia men's national basketball team ( lv, Latvijas basketbola izlase) represents Latvia in international basketball. They are organized and run by the Latvian Basketball Association. Latvia has reached the European Basketball Championship 15 times, with their ultimate success occurring during the inter-war period, when they became the first team to win the tournament in 1935. Four years later, they had another impressive run to come away with the silver in 1939.
