Ronaldo Boyd
Ronaldo Reid Boyd (15 August 1904 – 1978) was an Argentine tennis player. He was a quarter finalist in singles at the 1928 French Championships and a quarter finalist in the men's doubles at the 1928 Wimbledon Championships. He was active from 1920 to 1939 and contested 19 career single finals winning 16 titles. Career Ronald Reid Boyd was born on 15 August 1904 in Belgrano, Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was descended from Scottish immigrants to Argentina in 19th century. He was a member of the prestigious Belgrano Athletic Club tennis section. He played his first tournament at the Le Touquet International Championship in 1920 where he reached the final and lost to Joseph Thellier de Poncheville. In 1921 he won his first singles title at the City of Buenos Aries Championships against Enrique Obarrio. Belgrano, Buenos Aires
Belgrano is a northern and leafy '' barrio'' or neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Location The barrio of Palermo is to the southeast; Núñez is to the northwest; Coghlan, Villa Urquiza, Villa Ortúzar and Colegiales are to the southwest. History Belgrano was named after Manuel Belgrano, a politician and military leader who created the national flag of Argentina. In 1820, at Belgrano's death, Buenos Aires' legislature introduced a law to name the next town to be founded after him. This happened in 1855, when the Buenos Aires government, fearful that relatives of Juan Manuel de Rosas would dispute the governmental decision to expropriate Rosas' lands, laid down a new town on part of it and named it Belgrano. The River Plate Championships or Campeonatos de Río de la Plata also known as the River Plate International Championships or Campeonatos Internacionales de River Plate was a men's and women's clay court tennis tournament founded in 1893 as the Buenos Aires LTC Open. Henri Cochet
Henri Jean Cochet (; 14 December 1901 – 1 April 1987) was a French tennis player. He was a world No. 1 ranked player, and a member of the famous " Four Musketeers" from France who dominated tennis in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Born in Villeurbanne, Rhône, Cochet won a total 22 Majors including seven Grand Slam singles, five doubles and three mixed doubles. In addition he won three singles, two doubles and one mixed doubles ILTF majors. He also won one professional Major in singles. During his major career he won singles and doubles titles on three different surfaces: clay, grass and wood. He was ranked as world No. 1 player for four consecutive years, 1928 through 1931 by A. Wallis Myers. Cochet turned professional in 1933, but after a less than stellar pro career he was reinstated as an amateur after the end of World War II in 1945.
