Ronald Bruce Campbell
Colonel Ronald Bruce Campbell (1878–1963) was a British Army officer and Olympic fencer. Biography Born in Madras, India, on 14 September 1878, Ronald Bruce Campbell was educated at Bedford School and at the University of Edinburgh. He served in the British Army during the Second Boer War, between 1900 and 1901, and during the First World War, between 1914 and 1918, and was promoted to the rank of colonel in the Gordon Highlanders in 1922. Colonel Ronald Bruce Campbell was invested as a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order in 1917, and as a Companion of the Order of the British Empire in 1923. He competed in fencing for Great Britain in the 1920 Summer Olympics. In 1929, he won the sabre title at the British Fencing Championships. Ronald Hugh Campbell
Sir Ronald Hugh Campbell (27 September 1883 – 15 November 1953) was a British diplomat who held several important positions including that of British ambassador to France from July 1939 to 22 June 1940, when the armistice between Germany and France was signed at Compiègne. He was appointed British ambassador in Paris from the post of British envoy to Yugoslavia, a considerable jump in promotion that was extremely rare in the diplomatic service. Such an important position is normally reserved for diplomats who have passed through several legations and other embassies. However, it was long recognized that Campbell possessed outstanding abilities. Following the fall of France in June 1940, he was evacuated through Saint-Jean-de-Luz on on 24 June and returned to London. Ronald Ian Campbell
Sir Ronald Ian Campbell (7 June 1890 – 22 April 1983) was a British diplomat. Campbell was the second son of Sir Guy Campbell, 3rd Baronet (see Campbell baronets), and Nina, daughter of Frederick Lehmann. He was educated at Eton and graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1912 with a Bachelor of Arts. In 1939, Campbell was appointed Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, a post he held until 1941 when he became Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary (deputy head of mission) at Washington, D.C., until 1944. He became Assistant Under-Secretary of State at the Foreign Office in 1945, and served as the United Kingdom's ambassador to Egypt from 1946 to 1950. Ronnie Campbell
Ronald Campbell (born 14 August 1943) is a former British Labour Party politician who was Member of Parliament (MP) for Blyth Valley from 1987 until 2019. Early life Campbell was born in Tynemouth, and grew up with seven siblings. He attended Blyth Ridley County High School, a secondary modern, and left school at 14 to become a coal miner. Before entering parliament he was a councillor for Croft Ward, Blyth Borough, Northumberland from 1969 and a lay official of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM). He was a miner from 1958–86. Campbell led picket lines in the 1984–85 miners' strike and was arrested twice. Parliamentary career Campbell was first elected as an MP for Blyth Valley at the 1987 general election with a majority of 853 votes. He often voted against the Blair government on issues such as the Iraq War. He is an outspoken socialist. Ron Campbell (26 December 1939 – 22 January 2021) was an Australian animator, director, and producer, best known for his work on the 1960s '' The Beatles'' television series, as well as the animated feature film '' Yellow Submarine''. Early career Ron Campbell's career began in 1958 animating various commercials for Australian television. However, when Al Brodax brought both his Krazy Kat and Beetle Bailey cartoons to Australia for production, Campbell was recruited to work on the project. After Krazy Kat, Campbell went on to direct many installments of '' The Beatles'' television series for King Features. The show debuted on 25 September 1965, and remained number one in the ratings for the duration of its four-year run. He later wrote the foreword to the book ''Beatletoons: The Real Story Behind The Cartoon Beatles'', where his involvement in the show is also talked about extensively. Ronald Thomas Campbell (April 5, 1940 – February 2, 2023) was an American right-handed infielder in Major League Baseball for the Chicago Cubs. After spending some time at Tennessee Wesleyan College, Campbell was signed by the Cubs as a free agent in 1960. He toiled in the minor leagues for a few seasons before getting his first opportunity with the Cubs on September 1, 1964. After going 0-for-8 in his first two contests, Campbell singled off Cincinnati Reds pitcher John Tsitouris in his first at-bat on September 3, 1964, not only recording his first major league hit, but also his first RBI as teammate Len Gabrielson scored from third to give the Cubs a 1–0 lead. The Cubs went on to win 3–0, giving Campbell credit for the game-winning RBI. The Freeman Hospital is an 800-bed tertiary referral centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The hospital is managed by the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is a teaching hospital for Newcastle University. History The Freeman Hospital, which was designed by Newcastle Regional Hospital Department and built by John Laing, was completed in 1977, when services from several hospitals across the city were relocated into one centre.
