Ron Naclerio
Ron Naclerio is an author and all time winningest coach for the PSAL league. He coaches at Benjamin Cardozo High School. Early life Naclerio was born in 1958. His father Emil Naclerio was a thoracic surgeon. Naclerio played baseball at St. John’s University and later spent three years in the Chicago White Sox system. This included the Gulf Coast League White Sox. Coaching Naclerio started coaching in 1981. After years as an assistant under Al Matican. In his first season he went 1-21. The second year he went 21-4. By 2011 he had reached 600 wins and eventually broke the record of wins by a PSAL coach when he reached 723 passing Chuck Granby. Eventually he reached 748 wins and counting. During this time he won two city titles. PSAL
The Public Schools Athletic League, known by the abbreviation PSAL, is an organization that promotes student athletics in the public schools of New York City. It was founded in 1903 to provide and maintain a sports program for students enrolled in New York City public schools. It is the oldest and largest sports league in the United States. The PSAL serves both boys and girls. The PSAL holds competitions in a wide range of indoor and outdoor sports in fall, winter and spring seasons. In 2007, the league included 185 schools involving nearly 2,400 teams. The mission of the Public Schools Athletic league is to provide opportunities for educating students in physical fitness, character development and socialization skills through an athletic program that fosters teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. Benjamin Cardozo High School
Benjamin N. Cardozo High School is a public high school in the Bayside neighborhood of Queens, New York City. The school was named for Benjamin N. Cardozo, who served as justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and chief judge of the New York Court of Appeals. It is operated by the New York City Department of Education. Emil Naclerio
Emil A. Naclerio (March 21, 1915 – October 14, 1985) was an American doctor and surgeon who is most notable for operating on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to save his life after a 1958 assassination attempt. Attempted assassination of MLK Izola Curry stabbed the reverend Martin Luther King Jr. in the chest with a letter opener on September 20, 1958, at book-signing in a Harlem department store. NYPD police officers Al Howard and Phil Romano took King in the chair down to an ambulance that took King to Harlem Hospital, and its top team of trauma surgeons, Dr. John W. V. Gulf Coast League
The Florida Complex League (FCL) is a rookie-level Minor League Baseball league that operates in Florida, United States. Before 2021, it was known as the Gulf Coast League (GCL). Together with the Arizona Complex League (ACL), it forms the lowest rung on the North American minor-league ladder. FCL teams play at the minor league spring training complexes of their parent Major League Baseball (MLB) clubs and are owned by those parent clubs. Admission is not charged, and no concessions are operated at the teams' games. Every Grapefruit League team fields at least one team in the league. Chuck Granby
Charles "Chuck" Grandby (October 22, 1934—March 2, 2016) was a former NCAA Division 1 basketball player, and at the time of his retirement the all time winningest coach in the PSAL. Early life He was born in October 22, 1934 in North Carolina. He later attended Morris High School (Bronx) and New York City Community College. He played basketball at Bradley University. While there he won a National Invitational Tournament title. He served in the US Army Medical Corp from 1956 to 1958. Coaching He served as the coach at Andrew Jackson High School, which later became Campus Magnet High School. He won 24 division titles, and seven Queens crowns in 45 years of coaching. He won a city title in 1985. By the end of his 24 year career he had amassed 722 wins. He retired from teaching in 1996, but continued to coach. Rafer Jamel Alston (born July 24, 1976), also known as Skip to my Lou or Skip 2 My Lou, is an American retired professional basketball player. Alston first gained basketball fame playing in the AND1 Mixtape Tour in 1999 before making the National Basketball Association (NBA). Royal Terence Ivey (born December 20, 1981) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is also the head coach of the South Sudanese national basketball team. He played college basketball for the Texas Longhorns before spending 10 years in the NBA.
