Ron Larson (artist)
Ron Larson is an art director, album cover designer and graphic artist. He has won two Grammys for his designs. He has worked closely with John Kosh and also done many various projects for Disney. He was also responsible for helping with the design of the original Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope logo as well as designing the logo for The Empire Strikes Back. He rendered the logo for Spinal Tap LP Break Like the Wind and the movie poster for Prince's Under The Cherry Moon. Besides working in both the movie industry and recording industry he was also involved in the art used on video game covers. Larson also helped design the logo used by United Artists Films. He currently teaches graphic design classes for undergraduate students at California State University, Fullerton. Art director is the title for a variety of similar job functions in theater, advertising, marketing, publishing, fashion, film industry, film and television, the Internet, and video games. It is the charge of a sole art director to supervise and unify the vision of an artistic production. In particular, they are in charge of its overall visual appearance and how it visual communication, communicates visually, stimulates moods, contrasts features, and psychologically appeals to a target audience. The art director makes decisions about visual elements, what artistic style (visual arts), style(s) to use, and when to use motion graphic design, motion. Lush Life (Linda Ronstadt Album)
''Lush Life'' is an album by American singer/songwriter/producer Linda Ronstadt, released in late 1984. It was the second in a trilogy of jazz albums with bandleader/arranger Nelson Riddle. John Kosh designed the album covers for all 3 albums. It peaked at #13 on the ''Billboard'' album chart and was certified platinum in just several weeks, becoming Ronstadt's record tenth million-selling platinum album overall. It climbed to #3 on the Jazz albums chart and also earned Linda a Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Vocal Performance Female alongside Madonna, Tina Turner, Pat Benatar and Whitney Houston. This album was awarded the 1985 Grammy for Best Album Package. ''Get Closer'' is the eleventh studio album by singer Linda Ronstadt, released in 1982. History With her previous album, '' Mad Love'', in 1980, Ronstadt's career took a turn away from the country-rock style she'd succeeded with for more than a decade. In 1980–81, she sang light opera on Broadway in ''The Pirates of Penzance'', and during production of the play in New York she expressed a desire to record an album of standards. In 1981, she recorded a session with producer Jerry Wexler and a small jazz combo for a planned album titled ''Keeping Out of Mischief'', but Ronstadt was dissatisfied with the results and cancelled its release. Linda Ronstadt
Linda Maria Ronstadt (born July 15, 1946) is a retired American singer who performed and recorded in diverse genres including rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin. She has earned 11 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, and an ALMA Award. Many of her albums have been certified gold, platinum or multiplatinum in the United States and internationally. She has also earned nominations for a Tony Award and a Golden Globe award. An album cover (also referred to as album art) is the front packaging art of a commercially released studio album or other audio recordings. The term can refer to either the printed paperboard covers typically used to package sets of and 78-rpm records, single and sets of LPs, sets of 45 rpm records (either in several connected sleeves or a box), or the front-facing panel of a cassette J-card or CD package, and, increasingly, the primary image accompanying a digital download of the album, or of its individual tracks. California State University, Fullerton (CSUF or Cal State Fullerton) is a public university in Fullerton, California.
