Ron Hughes (footballer Born 1930)
Ronald Hughes (1 July 1930 – 30 July 2019) was a Welsh professional footballer who played as a full-back. He spent his entire professional career with Chester from 1950 to 1962, where he made the second most Football League appearances in the club's history after featuring in 399 games. Playing career Hughes joined Chester in September 1950 after completing his army service, having previously played for hometown club Mold Alexandra. His Football League debut arrived in March 1952 in a 5–0 win at Rochdale. Hughes went on to be a regular for the next decade, predominantly in the right-back spot. He didn't miss a first-team game between September 1956 and September 1958, and most other campaigns saw him miss very few games. As a reward for his loyalty, Hughes was awarded testimonial matches against Everton in 1957 and an All-Star XI in 1961. Mold, Flintshire
Mold ( cy, Yr Wyddgrug) is a town and community in Flintshire, Wales, on the River Alyn. It is the county town and administrative seat of Flintshire County Council, as it was of Clwyd from 1974 to 1996. According to the 2011 UK Census, it had a population of 10,058. Carlisle ( , ; from xcb, Caer Luel) is a city that lies within the Northern English county of Cumbria, south of the Scottish border at the confluence of the rivers Eden, Caldew and Petteril. The 1961–62 season was the 82nd season of competitive Football in England. Overview The season was notable for the remarkable achievement of Ipswich Town winning the League Championship. Under the managership of Alf Ramsey, the club progressed from the old Third Division South to the First Division. Ipswich were dismissed by most of the media at the time as relegation candidates, but Ramsey's tactics baffled the big clubs in the division such as favourites Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley, and other big names such as Manchester United and Arsenal. Before Ramsey's tenure Ipswich had no tradition to speak of, and indeed had never even played in the top flight of English Football.
