Ron Henson
Ron J. Henson is a public official in the state of Louisiana, currently serving as the First Assistant Treasurer of Louisiana. Early life Henson was born in Searcy, Arkansas, and grew up in El Dorado, Arkansas. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana and attended the University of Arkansas. He has also completed Executive Finance courses at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Illinois. Early political career He previously served for 17 years as John Neely Kennedy’s first assistant state treasurer, where he managed a budget in excess of $10 million and more than 80 employees. Charles Elson "Buddy" Roemer III (October 4, 1943 – May 17, 2021) was an American politician, investor, and banker who served as the 52nd Governor of Louisiana from 1988 to 1992, and as a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1981 to 1988. Louisiana State Treasurer Special Election, 2017
The Louisiana State Treasurer special election took place on October 14, 2017, to elect the state treasurer of Louisiana, with a runoff election to be held on November 18, 2017, if necessary. Incumbent Republican State Treasurer John Kennedy was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016. First Assistant Treasurer Ron Henson replaced Kennedy as treasurer, and served until the special election. Henson did not run in the special election. Under Louisiana's jungle primary system, all candidates appeared on the same ballot, regardless of party and voters may vote for any candidate, regardless of their party affiliation. If no candidate receives a majority of the vote during the primary election, a runoff election will be held between the top two candidates. Melinda Schwegmann
Melinda Burge Schwegmann (born October 25, 1946) is an American politician. She was the first woman to serve as Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana and was in office from 1992 to 1996. While in office, she was a proponent of the arts and culture in the state. She ran unsuccessfully in the 1995 Louisiana gubernatorial election. She was, along with her opponent Mary Landrieu, the first woman to have a serious chance of winning the office. She finished in 6th place out of the 15 running in that year's jungle primary.
