Ron Gonzales
Ronald R. Gonzales (born 1951) is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party, who served as the 63rd Mayor of San Jose, California. Gonzales was the first Hispanic to serve as Mayor of San Jose since 1845. Early life Gonzales grew up in the Santa Clara Valley, and graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Early political career Gonzales served as a two-time mayor and member of the Sunnyvale City Council from 1979 to 1987. He completed the Mayor's Leadership Program at Harvard Kennedy School and is an American Leadership Forum fellow. After his first two-terms as mayor, he then served for eight years (1989–1996) on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. Cindy Chavez (born April 7, 1964) is an American politician who serves as the Santa Clara County supervisor representing district two, which is home to nearly 400,000 residents in Downtown, East, and South San Jose. Her public service career began in the 1990s as a policy analyst for health care, public health, human services and transportation for the Board of Supervisors. David Dominic Cortese (born June 3, 1956) is an elected official from San Jose, California. He is currently serving in the California State Senate, representing District 15, which encompasses a majority of Santa Clara County. Quid pro quo ('what for what' in Latin) is a Latin phrase used in English to mean an exchange of goods or services, in which one transfer is contingent upon the other; "a favor for a favor".
